Last weekend Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff proposed to model girlfriend Christen Harper in Cabo. Although the couple acknowledged their engagement just hours after it took place with Christen sharing a video on her Instagram account kissing Jared on a Cabo beach it’s only recently that fans of the pair have gotten a chance to learn more of the juicy details behind the proposal.
Jared’s Plan To Surprise Christen & Pop The Question
According to sources close to the couple Goff went all out in order to make the moment special for Christen. He invited quite a few of her friends to a surprise Cabo getaway. The couple and their companions landed via private jet in the Mexican pacific, and headed out to El Dorado Golf and beach club in San Jose del Cabo.
Jared tried to play things cool, not giving away his hand way too early in the trip. This allowed Christen to enjoy some typical Cabo trip activities like sipping cocktails and eating healthy tacos in the resort pool with her besties. The group of friends included fellow models Katie Austin and Elizabeth Turner.
A bit later in the evening though Goff took Christen out to a private beach area that had already been fitted with a ton of red roses and white candles. That’s when he decided to take a knee in the sand and pop the question. According to Kristen’s Instagram post the proposal occurred on Thursday. This gave the couple and their entourage time to enjoy their weekend without Goff being so nervous about having to pop the question later in the trip. Talk about a good game plan, and execution from the former number one pick.

Once the proposal was over and done with, the group headed out to Acre, one of the current hotspots as far as high end restaurants go in San Jose del Cabo offering mostly Mexican seafood dishes and fancy cocktail options. The restaurant was expecting the group who were greeted with balloons that read congratulations on the large table that was all set to welcome them.
Christen also shared more pics of the couple after Jared popped the question. The two were cuddled up on a beach chair with Kristen holding up a margarita while showing off the diamond ring that Jared had given to her the day before. By most accounts the couple kept their vacationing mainly in and around some of the most private spots in San Jose del Cabo.
Will The Beach Loving Couple Be Headed To Detroit?
Their latest Cabo vacation certainly does not mark the first time that the couple go on a beach outing. Just a couple of months back Christen shared photos of a pizza and wine date that the couple had on a southern California beach. In fact, the pair met in Los Angeles while Goff played for the local Los Angeles Rams. Christen would later go on to thank southern California for bringing the couple together back in 2019. Sunny beaches are potentially not in the couple’s future though especially during the NFL season.
Jared Goff got traded to the Detroit Lions before the start of last season, and the move was great … for the Rams. The team won a Super Bowl with new quarterback Matthew Stafford. Goff was left without the beach, and far away from Christen, while his team went 3-13-1. On top of all that he was only able to play 14 out of 17 games due to an injury. Here’s to hoping that things can turn around for the quarterback and his bride to be next season. If not they can at least have their offseason Cabo getaways to look forward to.
