Los Cabos Officially The Most Expensive Mexican Destination – Why It’s Worth It

The average per night cost at a Cabo hotel over the summer is expected to reach 500 dollars, making it the most expensive Mexican destination by quite a wide margin.

Just for comparison, the average per night rate in Mexico, as a whole, sits at 289 dollars. That’s with the Cabo 500 dollars factored into the average.

In spite of the fact that Cabo boasts the title of the most expensive Mexican destination, tourists keep flocking to the area.

In fact, it is because of this popularity that the rate has continued to climb. Insurance company Allianz even placed Cabo as one of the favorite destinations for American travelers.

What makes Cabo so special that tourists keep coming here despite the high costs?

Your Vacation Is Likely To Be Less Crowded

The head of the Los Cabos Hotels Association, Lilzi Orci Fregoso, had said in interviews throughout the last couple of months that hotels were looking for “quality tourism”.

To that end, they would not be reducing the rates to fill up their facilities. In her most recent media appearance, she revealed that Cabo hotels are expected to be, on average, 69% full through the end of June, with a 67% occupancy rate throughout July.

In comparison, other Mexican destinations such as Cancun are expected to see occupancy ratings of about 80%.

With nearby destinations like Akumal and Playa del Carmen seeing their rates in the mid-80s. Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta will also see occupancy ratings in the mid to high 80s, according to the Federal Tourism Secretary’s office.

With staff at Cabo hotels having the luxury of catering to fewer people, this can lead to better service.

Within the resort, guests can feel much less crowded than they would at hotels in some of these other Mexican destinations.

The Rate Comes With Almost A Guarantee Of A Premium Experience

500 dollars a night is certainly a steep price. However, you may want to consider that many of the hotels that are priced at around this rate offer all-inclusive experiences.

Therefore, your nightly rate is not only going to include your room but all of the food and drinks within the resort.

Of course, before booking a night at any Cabo hotel, you’re going to want to make sure that you fully understand what the rate includes.

For the most part, the hotels that offer nightly rates around this average will be providing more than just a room to stay the night in Cabo.

At the time of writing this article, hotels like the Posada Real, Barcelo Gran Faro, Hotel Krystal, and the Marina Fiesta resort are all offering nightly rates at around that 500 dollar average for all-inclusive deals to stay in Cabo during the last weekend of July.

Cabo Offers Unique Experiences That Not All Mexican Beaches Can Provide

When you arrive in Cabo for the first time, you quickly realize that the desert by the beach setting is not something that’s typical of Mexican beaches.

In fact, a jungle by the beach in Mexico is what most people are accustomed to seeing. This setting though allows Cabo tourists to explore different experiences, such as riding a camel on the beach.

If you like hiking, you can head over to the Fox Canyon area for a hike around rock formations with waterfalls that land in freshwater pools.

The best diving spot in all of Mexico, with the most diverse marine wildlife, is also near the main Los Cabos city limits.

Cabo Pulmo National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site considered the world’s aquarium. It’s perfect for both snorkeling and diving.

If you want to dive into the Cabo art scene while walking along the streets of a traditional Mexican town, head over to the San Jose del Cabo downtown area.

On top of all this, you’ve got the arch, the beaches, and the whales. However, whales aren’t abundant during the summer months.

All this can help explain why Cabo can be worth it despite being the most expensive Mexican destination by some margin.
