Michelin Meets Mexico

A mark of the fine dining experience around the world is the coveted Michelin star. Hosting a foodie event worthy of the Michelin name is just as prestigious.

Michelin Meets Mexico is coming to Los Cabos on July 6 and 8, highlighting Michelin-rated chefs and some of the best local cuisine Baja California Sur has to share.

At the event, some of the top chefs in the world will serve special plates paired with wine that highlight some of freshest and best products available both nationally and internationally.

Some of the standout chefs participating in the event are Michelin Star Chef Drew Deckman, Spanish Celebrity Chef Paco Morales, and local favorite Edith Jiménez.

Sponsored by Michelin Mexico, Robert Parker Wines, and Tablet Hotels, the event is created to highlight the local gastronomy of the regions of Mexico along with wine tourism, art, culture and lifestyle of each visited city.

Along with Los Cabos, both Mexico City and Monterrey are part of the Michelin Meets Mexico event series.

It is being presented in coordination with the Mexico Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Conservatory of Gastronomic Culture of Mexico.

Top Chef Los Cabos

The University of the Gulf of California hosts the third edition of Top Chef Los Cabos a week later on July 14.

An A-List of 30 culinary professionals from across Los Cabos has been narrowed down to seven of the top chefs in the area who will participate for the Top Chef Los Cabos crown.

Each chef will create and present a seven-course fine dining meal for the Top Chef Los Cabos dining critics. Each of the courses must use two base ingredients per dish.

The best part is that the public is actually welcome to attend the event and enjoy the fine dining plates created during the competition.

A limited number of tickets are available for 1,200 pesos (roughly $65) which will include entry to the event, the seven-course fine dining meal, and a welcome cocktail. Additionally, three drinks will be provided as a courtesy.

The price is a great deal to enjoy this level of fine dining and tickets will go fast. The competition starts at 6pm on July 14.

While Los Cabos is just getting known for foodie dining experiences, there is still a need for additional fine dining restaurants in the popular beach resort destination.

It also hopefully will attract Michelin-star-recognized chefs and restaurants to choose Los Cabos for their new fine dining locations.

With the third busiest airport in the entire country, Los Cabos has the tourist traffic that attracts the worldwide popular celebrity chefs. It is just a matter of time before one of them recognizes the market potential of Los Cabos.

For tourists, especially foodies, this will eventually be just another great reason to visit Los Cabos.

It also fits well with the many upscale amenities available as Los Cabos continues its evolution from a college beach party town to a luxury beach resort destination in Mexico.
