Yahoo!life recently published its ‘27 Best Spring Destination for Families’ list, ranking Los Cabos as the best destination.
According to this renowned website, this Mexican municipality earned first place due to three main factors.
Warm weather
Los Cabos enjoys great weather conditions all year round. Especially during the winter months, when several states in the USA experience freezing conditions, this destination can be a great place to get some vitamin D!
With temperatures ranging between 73℉ (23℃) to 64℉ (18℃), there is no better place to escape the cold winter weather. Mild temperatures allow tourists to choose among a wide variety of outdoor activities.
For instance, hiking adventures on the famous Sierra de la Laguna mountain range, where visitors will find walking paths for all fitness levels.
Another popular activity is horseback riding. The winter is surely the best time to practice this sport as the temperatures are not too hot, allowing tourists to ride their horses for prolonged periods of time without soaking in sweat.
Lastly, in recent years, Los Cabos has become incredibly popular among golfers. With several state-of-the-art golf courses located in the municipality, it is not too surprising to see so many golf fanatics flocking to this destination every year.
But of course, Los Cabos is first and foremost synonymous with pristine beaches. With plenty of places to practice water activities, such as surfing and snorkeling, Los Cabos is one of the best places to head to for families wanting to spend their days at the beach.
Pristine Beaches
With a total of 25 blue-flag-certified beaches, Los Cabos is, no doubt, among the best destinations for those wanting to spend their days at sea.
Places like Medano Beach, Santa Maria Beach, and Chileno Beach are among the most popular in the municipality due to their calm waters, allowing people of all ages and fitness levels to enjoy their time in the ocean without having to worry about strong currents and waves.
No matter the swimming skills of your kids, here they will be safe. Not by chance, the Los Cabos government has made it its number one priority to keep bathers safe at all times.
For this reason, the most popular beaches in the area are now being patrolled 24/7, thanks to the presence of expert lifeguards.
According to Yahoo!life, the most kid-friendly beach in the municipality is Cannery Beach, renowned for its small waves and low-key atmosphere.
Even though most beaches in Los Cabos are safe most of the time, it’s important to point out that sometimes visitors may find dangerous water conditions.
This can be due both to bad weather as well as the presence of dangerous animals in the water, such as jellyfish.
However, there’s no reason to panic. When this happens, visitors will find warning flags to signal a danger.
In particular, white flags indicate the presence of dangerous animals in the sea, yellow flags ask visitors to enter the water while exercising a high level of caution, red flags prohibit bathers from accessing the sea, and black flags prohibit people from both entering the water and accessing the shore.
Lastly, tourists should be aware that some beaches in Los Cabos are never accessible due to their dangerous water conditions. Some of these include Playa Solmar, Playa Pedregal, and Divorce Beach.
Family-friendly resorts
The last factor that earned Los Cabos first place on Yahoo!life’s list is the high number of family-friendly resorts found in this municipality.
Not by chance, one of the most popular resort brands in Los Cabos, Grand Velas, just opened a new property, the adult-only Los Cabos Boutique.
Thanks to this new opening, families can now make the most out of their time in the main Grand Velas resort without worrying about disturbing those wanting to enjoy a kid-free vacation.
Yahoo!life also advises parents to make use of the many kid’s clubs present in most Los Cabos all-inclusive resorts.
In these facilities, children are taken care of by responsible adults, who entertain them with several games while their parents finally get some well-deserved quality time together.
