If you know anything about Los Cabos, then you know that it is made up of two different places that are two completely unique and different worlds.
One, Cabo San Lucas, has a vibrant social energy, a place where people go to have fun and party, while the other, San Jose del Cabo, is more sophisticated, charming, and laidback, the kind of place one visits for culture, rest, and relaxation.
Both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo have much to offer, but we’ll tell you where to go in Los Cabos based on how old you are so that you can truly enjoy your vacation to the fullest.
Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas is a party mecca that is ideal for millennials looking to let loose from their busy lives and have some fun.
Resorts in the marina area that are close to where all the nightlife is are not always peaceful, to say the least, and this is where you’ll find young people ready to party.
Cabo San Lucas is also the area where many of the water activities take place, so the beaches, particularly Medano, are usually packed.

San Jose del Cabo
San Jose del Cabo is quieter, more picturesque, and more genuine, and is the perfect place for travelers in their 40s and 50s to rest and relax.
It’s also an amazing place to explore the history, culture, and authentic Mexican cuisine.
And although San Jose del Cabo is not the high-energy nightlife spot that Cabo San Lucas is, there are some great local-vibe establishments that have the perfect atmosphere for gen Xers to have a fun night out.

Resorts In Los Cabos
There are more resorts to choose from in Los Cabos than you could ever have the time to look at, and each is a little bit different from the next.
Some resorts are all about luxury, others are considered party resorts, some are ideal for families, and others are in the perfect location.
And some of the resorts are more popular among specific age groups or types of travelers, like couples, spring breakers, or bachelorette groups, for example.
We’ll share a few below that are perfect for each age group because booking the right resort is crucial to having a great Los Cabos vacation.

Resorts For Millenials
There are plenty of resorts in Cabo San Lucas for millennials looking for a good time, if not a full-blown party.
Hard Rock Hotel, for one, is perfect for music-loving millennials looking for a party but not too wild of a party, as it is family-friendly but it has great nightlife spots and an adult-only pool.
Breathless, which is adults-only, and ME Cabo are both ideal for millennials looking for a more pumped-up party.
You’ll find DJ pool parties, live music, and plenty of dining options at each.

Resorts For Gen Xers
Whether traveling alone or with your whole family, there are resorts in San Jose del Cabo that will take you away from all of the parties and crowds.
There are both sprawling resorts and smaller boutique-style hotels, and there are plenty of options.
Hotel El Ganzo is a highly-rated adult-only property that sits right on the beach and has its own private marina and beach club.
Royal Solaris and Hyatt Ziva are both family-friendly all-inclusives with multiple dining options, fantastic pools, and amazing beachfront locations.
@mirandaruthy_ Here’s my 2 day itinerary for San Jose Del Cabo: Day 1: • checked in & spent the afternoon at the @hotelelganzo pool. They have a huge infinity pool with a really cool glass jacuzzi pool overlooking the marina. • next, we walked over to @el_marinero_borracho for an authentic seafood lunch. I highly recommend the ceviche & a passion fruit margarita, really everything on their menu is amazing. • @florafarms is a must visit for dinner, the freshest ingredients & the best live music. Your experience here will be unforgettable. Day 2: • More sun beach club & we also had a yummy poolside lunch here. • @hotelelganzo has live music nightly. We had a drink & enjoyed the live flamingo dancer and her band around sunset • next we visited the Thursday @artwalksanjose art walk for live music, art, food, & shopping. • we ended our night with an incredible dinner @acreresort. #florafarmscabo #hotelelganzo #acreresort #cabotrip2022 #sanjoseselcabo #couplestrip ♬ La Rebelion Austin Millz Remix – MillzMondays
Visiting Los Cabos
When you’re planning a trip to Los Cabos, you’ll probably hear Cabo San Lucas mentioned more than San Jose del Cabo.
Both have a lot to offer, but each is definitely unique. Basing your choice on what kind of atmosphere you’re looking for will ensure the best Los Cabos vacation.

One final thing worth mentioning is that the Tourist Corridor that runs between the two cities is also a great place to stay.
There are resorts for all age groups looking for a more peaceful vacation, away from all of the action.
