The numbers back it up as new flight booking data has been revealed from January through August 2023. Among the top international destinations is, of course, Los Cabos.

It’s not quite the favorite among Americans, but it stands in good company. Your next dreamy beach vacation is always a short flight away from many cities in the U.S. mainland.

As winter is just around the corner, there is no better to time to add to these numbers in 2023 and plan your winter escape.

More Desirable Than Ever

None of us like talking about the pandemic anymore as we have ‘been there, done that’. However, for the travel industry, the pandemic set a new metric to determine how popular destinations have become again.

Los Cabos definitely hasn’t been riding the struggle bus in terms of attracting visitors. In fact, Cabo has actually become more desirable than ever when looking at the latest booking statistics.

Compared to 2019, when Los Cabos was the 9th most popular international destination for Americans, this luxe vacation spot has moved up a few slots.

Los Cabos is now the 6th most popular destination among American travelers with no signs of slowing down.

Bookings are up across the board with more flights, new resorts, and unforgettable tours to make lasting memories.

Luxury Within Close Reach

There are plenty of places travelers can go to, with all-inclusive resorts on beautiful beaches. So, why Cabo above the others?

Los Cabos placed second this year as far as Mexican vacations go, with Cancun taking the trophy by a large margin with the number one overall destination for Americans.

Given Cancun is one of the closest beach destinations to the U.S. and offers comparable experiences to Los Cabos, it’s not a big shocker.

What was surprising is Cancun takes up a whopping 17.5% of all international flights from the U.S. compared to Los Cabos’ 4.5% share.

There were some other surprises on the list in terms of other vacation getaways, but the top 6 are probably what most would expect:

• Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
• Montego Bay, Jamaica
• San Juan, Puerto Rico
• Los Cabos, Mexico

Other well-known Mexican destinations made the list but didn’t crack the top 10. North America’s largest metropolis, Mexico City, was the 12th most popular destination behind Rome, Italy, yet ahead of Caribbean hotspot Nassau, Bahamas.

Another Mexican vacation paradise, Puerto Vallarta, was further down the list in the 18th spot behind Seoul, South Korea and Athens, Greece.
