Los Cabos is a popular destination all year round, but there are certain periods of the year in which booking a vacation here suddenly becomes more convenient.

This is the case right now! But why is it so? Here are 5 reasons tourists should book their Los Cabos trip right now.

Fewer tourists

The winter festivities have now passed, and way fewer tourists are crowding this popular Mexican municipality compared to the end of December and the beginning of 2024.

This has plenty of benefits for visitors. For instance, people heading here soon will be able to find plenty of empty space at the beach instead of having to deal with hundreds of visitors crowding each corner.

Fewer tourists also mean better chances of mingling with the locals and getting a slightly more authentic experience.

Better prices & deals

Of course, when there are fewer tourists around, prices tend to become cheaper. Visitors will be able to pay way less when booking their accommodations, flight tickets, and other services.

On top of this, unlike months in the high season, booking a Los Cabos holiday right now will give you the chance to choose among a vast variety of deals without having to worry about all the best packages and offers suddenly running out due to the high influx of tourists in the area.

Cleaner beaches

According to data published by the Federal Maritime-Terrestrial Zone (ZOFEMAT), the recent reduction in the number of tourists in Los Cabos was also extremely beneficial for the beaches in this area.

The Coordinator of the Federal Maritime-Terrestrial Zone (ZOFEMAT) recently declared that one of the most popular beaches in the municipality, El Médano, has experienced 40% less garbage due to the low influx of bathers.

Despite this reduction in waste, however, the cleaning operations continue as usual. This means that visitors heading to Los Cabos will soon find pristine beaches where they can enjoy their afternoons in complete tranquility.

Animal spotting galore

Despite the decreased number of tourists, visitors planning a trip to Los Cabos will have plenty of activities to choose from. One of these is surely animal spotting.

Not by chance, Los Cabos is now in its peak whale-watching season. These humongous mammals reach the shore of Baja California Sur in early December to then return to the Arctic in mid-April, with the months from January to March considered the best period to see these creatures.

Another great option for animal lovers is to head to San José del Cabo Estuary. Even though birds can be found here all year round, some migratory species arrive in Los Cabos only for the winter period to leave again in spring, giving tourists the chance to see unique species.

Last but not least, travelers cannot miss the chance to swim with whale sharks! These massive fish can be found in Baja California Sur, and more specifically in the La Paz Bahia, between November and April.

This is one of the few places on Earth where whale sharks still gather in such huge numbers, offering tourists an experience they will cherish for life.

Mild weather

Los Cabos is characterized by mild weather conditions both in late January and early February.

These allow tourists to enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities, among which surfing which can be easily done by wearing a rash guard.

In this regard, it is important to keep in mind that in this period, surfers will find perfect swells on the Pacific Ocean, while the Sea of Cortez experiences ideal conditions in the months going from May to October.

People new to this sport should always ask experts which beaches are safe for beginners as some areas, such as El Tule Beach, should only be accessed by those with years of experience.

Another popular outdoor activity in the Los Cabos municipality is hiking. With the Sierra Laguna Mountain Range easily reachable with a quick drive, tourists will have plenty of paths from which all fitness levels can choose.
