Los Cabos, which includes the separate and very different towns of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, has a lot to offer.

There are a couple of nearby destinations, though, the East Cape and the Pacific area, that are also growing in popularity and have both similar and unique things to offer travelers visiting the region.

There are several reasons why these two destinations near Los Cabos are trending with tourists right now.

Let’s take a look at where they are, what those reasons are, and the destinations themselves.

The East Cape Near Los Cabos, Mexico

Luxury Resort Developments

The East Cape is on the East Coast of the Baja California Peninsula, northeast of San Jose del Cabo, while the “Pacific area” lies between Cabos San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

Each of these fascinating destinations has its own luxury resort development that features both hotels and vacation residences.

In the East Cape area, there is Costa Palmas, and in the Pacific area, you will find Cabo del Sol.

Luxury Resorts

Some of the most luxurious hotel brands have opened properties in the Costa Palmas and Cabo del Sol developments.

At Costa Palmas, there is a stunning Four Seasons Resort, and later this year there is an Amanvari hotel opening.

Cabo del Sol is home to the Grand Fiesta Americana, and the luxurious Hacienda del Mar, and there is a Park Hyatt and a Four Seasons on the way.

Seclusion

Another reason these two areas are becoming so popular and trending with tourists is that they offer a level of seclusion.

This is a bit more hard to find in the more popular destinations of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

For those looking for a more relaxing vacation, either of these areas is perfect.

Nature

You can explore nature in Los Cabos, but these areas, particularly, allow you to be immersed in nature.

Not just the amazing beaches, but hills, desert, and mountains are all within reach too.

Travelers who visit these areas can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, ATVing, camel riding, snorkeling, boating, and more.

The East Cape

The East Cape technically begins in San Jose del Cabo and stretches all the way to around the Cabo Pulmo area.

Up until recent years, it has remained relatively untouched and undeveloped in regards to tourism.

All along this stretch of coast travelers can enjoy the calm waters of the Sea of Cortez, smaller crowds, stunning beaches, and a little bit of peace and quiet.

The Pacific Area

Although referred to as the “Pacific area,” the area where Cabo del Sol is located is actually still on the Sea of Cortez.

It does extend very close to where it meets the Pacific Ocean, though, which is at Land’s End in Cabo San Lucas.

This area, which sits along the Tourist Corridor, is quieter than the two towns it sits between and has some of the area’s best beaches.

Getting To These Destinations

To get to either of these destinations, you’ll need to fly into Los Cabos International Airport, which is located about 8 miles outside of San Jose del Cabo.

From there you’ll have to book either a taxi, an Uber, or private transportation to get to your hotel in whichever area you’re staying in.

Private transportation is the safest, most comfortable, and most convenient option.

You could pay anywhere from $80 to more than $100 each way, but having your transportation scheduled and waiting when you arrive makes it worth the money.
