While Los Cabos has always been a premier winter escape for Americans, a massive surge from further north is completely shifting the region’s tourism landscape.
According to the latest data released by the Los Cabos Tourism Board, travel from Canada has hit absolute record heights, firmly establishing it as a top-tier priority market for the destination.
Currently, Canada accounts for nearly 20% of all international visitors to Los Cabos, and the local hospitality sector is rapidly expanding its offerings to meet the incredible demand.
Here is a closer look at exactly why Canadian travelers are flocking to Cabo and what it means for the upcoming winter season.

Unprecedented Growth From Major Canadian Gateways
The influx of Canadian tourists is not isolated to a single province; the growth is spanning across the entire country.
Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, highlighted the sustained and rapid expansion originating from key metropolitan hubs.
- Calgary Leads the Charge: Travel originating from Calgary is seeing the most explosive growth, increasing by more than 21% year-over-year. It is currently the fastest-growing major Canadian gateway to Los Cabos.
- Strong Numbers in Toronto: Toronto is also experiencing a massive boom, with outbound travel to the Baja Peninsula up by more than 15%.
- Targeted Outreach: To keep this momentum going, the tourism board is heavily investing in education and engagement directly with Canadian travel advisors, ensuring they have the tools to confidently match clients with luxury experiences in Los Cabos.

A Massive Expansion In Direct Flight Connectivity
One of the primary reasons Canadians are choosing Los Cabos over other tropical destinations is the sudden and significant increase in flight connectivity. Getting to the desert has never been easier or more accessible, thanks to major airlines aggressively expanding their winter routes.
- New Airlines Entering the Market: This upcoming winter season, the long-standing services provided by Air Canada and WestJet will be joined by heavy hitters Porter Airlines and Air Transat.
- Porter’s Major Rollout: Starting November 16, Porter Airlines will launch new nonstop services from Toronto (three times weekly) and Edmonton (four times weekly). They will follow this up with a twice-weekly service from Ottawa beginning December 18.
- Montreal Gets Connected: Air Transat is stepping up to serve the French-Canadian market by introducing a weekly nonstop service directly from Montreal starting on December 10.

The Draw Of Unmatched Ultra-Luxury Resorts
Beyond just getting here, the destination itself is evolving to offer the exact type of ultra-luxury, highly insulated experiences that affluent travelers are actively seeking. A major factor driving interest this year is the highly anticipated arrival of some of the world’s most exclusive hospitality brands.
- The Debut of Amanvari: On August 1, the globally renowned Aman brand will officially open its very first resort in Mexico right here in Baja. Located within the exclusive Costa Palmas community on the East Cape, Amanvari is setting a new standard for luxury.
- Incredible Private Amenities: The resort features 18 massive, 883-square-foot casitas that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living, complete with expansive terraces, private heated pools, and outdoor showers.
- Exclusive Community Access: Guests staying at the new property will have unparalleled access to the wider Costa Palmas community, which includes nearly five kilometers of swimmable beachfront, 18 acres of organic orchards, a private marina, and a Robert Trent Jones II-designed golf course.
