For Canadians already planning their escape for the next winter season, getting down to the beach is about to become incredibly easy. While you might just be unpacking your summer clothes right now, the travel industry is constantly looking ahead. Airlines know that when the cold weather eventually returns, travelers are going to want a fast, reliable, and hassle-free route to the sun.

If you are thinking about booking a Los Cabos getaway for later this year, the route network is getting a massive upgrade. Four brand new nonstop flights are officially launching from Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton, and Montreal right at the beginning of the 2026-2027 winter season.

4 New Nonstop Flights To Los Cabos Launching From Canada

For everyday travelers, booking a trip with a layover is a huge pain. Dealing with delayed connections in busy United States airports, clearing customs halfway through your travel day, or running through massive terminals with your luggage cuts directly into your valuable vacation time. You want to get on a plane in your home city and step off in the Baja desert just a few hours later. Thankfully, the airlines are finally stepping up to make that happen.

The Canadian Travel Market Is Booming

It is absolutely no secret that Canadian travelers love the Pacific coast of Mexico. Right now, Canadians represent the second-largest international market visiting Los Cabos. To put that immense popularity into perspective, the state of Baja California Sur welcomed 220,000 Canadian tourists last year, and a massive 215,000 of those visitors arrived specifically in Los Cabos.

Because the travel demand is so incredibly strong, tourism authorities have been aggressively negotiating for better, faster flight access. Fiturca’s general manager, Rodrigo Esponda Cascajares, explained that these new flights act as “new gateways” that will ultimately drive even more Canadian arrivals.

The sheer volume of these new direct flights is a complete game-changer. Esponda noted that thanks to this increased connectivity and the new routes opening directly from Canadian cities, officials anticipate a historic year for Canadian tourism.

Porter Airlines Expands Direct Access

Porter Airlines is doing the heavy lifting when it comes to launching these new routes. If you live in Ontario or Alberta, you have brand new direct options hitting the departure boards. They are launching three separate nonstop connections that will make crossing the border a breeze.

Porter Airlines

Starting on November 16, 2026, Porter Airlines will officially launch two of these new routes. The first route will connect Toronto to Los Cabos directly, operating three times a week. The second route will also launch on that exact same day, departing from Edmonton four times a week.

Just a month later, the airline is adding another major hub to its schedule. Porter Airlines is adding Ottawa to the mix, operating a direct connection twice a week starting December 18. This is a massive win for travelers who previously had to book expensive connector flights just to get to a major international hub before heading south.

Air Transat Adds Montreal To The Map

Travelers flying out of Quebec are also getting a direct pipeline straight to the beach. Air Transat is officially stepping up to cover the east coast market, ensuring that French-Canadian travelers have seamless access to the Baja peninsula.

Air Transat will officially launch a once-a-week flight from Montreal starting on December 10. Having these four major hubs locked in means travelers across the entire country now have unprecedented, easy access to Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. You can entirely avoid the stress of a connecting flight, skip the massive layover lines, and get your vacation started the moment you clear customs in Mexico.

Connecting Beyond The Beach

While these international flights are fantastic for getting you down to the ocean, Los Cabos is also rapidly expanding its domestic reach. Fiturca noted that this push for connectivity is not just about international flights; it is heavily strengthening the national travel market as well.

If you want to spend a week relaxing on Medano Beach in Cabo and then explore the rich culture of mainland Mexico, the local airport has you completely covered. The region currently boasts a highly connected network reaching 16 different cities across Mexico. Furthermore, starting in early June, officials are launching new flight operations out of Puebla as an additional destination.

This means you are no longer limited to just one location. Esponda emphasized that these various route combinations provide flexible options, allowing tourists to easily combine their Los Cabos vacation with visits to other incredible cities across Mexico and the United States. You can build the exact trip you want, without any of the old travel limitations.
