Why Americans Will Flock To This Charming City Near Los Cabos In 2024

The Baja California Peninsula is home to popular, well-known vacation destinations like Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, but there is much more to explore in this beautiful region of Mexico.   

One of those places, located not far from Los Cabos, is La Paz, the capital city of the state of Baja California Sur.   

It’s been growing in popularity, especially among travelers from the U.S., and there are a few reasons why Americans will flock to this charming city near Los Cabos even more in 2024.   

Flights From The U.S. To Startup Again 

Right now if you’re an American traveler who wants to get to La Paz you would have to fly into one of nine other Mexican airports, not including Los Cabos, and then fly to La Paz.   

At one time, there was a direct connection between Los Angeles and La Paz, but it has not been in operation for about 15 years.   

Now, officials are in the process of finalizing a deal with Volaris Airlines to offer that flight again, which will make it easier for American travelers to get to the destination.

Tourism Officials To Promote The Destination To American Travelers  

La Paz has a lot to offer to tourists, and tourism officials are ready to promote all that it has to offer to American travelers.   

According to the Municipal Tourism Directorate new services and products are being developed that will specifically be offered to American travelers in L.A.   

Though the destination will be promoted primarily to the Los Angeles market, all American travelers can enjoy what the destination has to offer.

The Security Of The Destination 

One of the reasons that it took so long to start discussions about reinstating the flight from the U.S. was due to previous perceptions of security.   

Now, the destination is one of the most secure in the state of Baja California Sur, which in turn is one of the safest states in the country.   

This newly upgraded security status will make American travelers more comfortable with visiting the destination.

La Paz might not be home to huge, sprawling all-inclusives, but that’s okay, and it actually adds to the character and charm of the historic city.   

The hotels that are located throughout the city are mostly highly-rated smaller hotels, vacation rentals, hostels, and well-known, higher-end chain hotels.

Speaking of the city… The city of La Paz exudes charm, particularly along the famous waterfront Malecon and in the city’s historic city center.   

Along the Malecon, you can dip your toes in the sand, view various sculptures, and take a walk along the pier.

La Paz is only about two hours from Los Cabos.   

The close proximity of the two destinations makes it possible to combine them into one vacation.   

Many of the tourists who visit La Paz visit Los Cabos first, and since there are 28 direct flights from U.S. cities to Los Cabos International Airport, it makes perfect sense to combine both destinations into one trip.

You can find fantastic accommodations in La Paz starting at just over $100 a night.   

Additionally, the more local the vibe is, the more affordable dining and nightlife will be.
