Winter is a popular time to visit Los Cabos, and this year, hotels are already experiencing high occupancy even as the season is just getting underway.

Los Cabos hotel occupancy is already nearing 80 percent, and the busiest weeks are yet to come.

In the face of the increasing occupancy rates, there are a few things that Los Cabos travelers should know as hotels quickly fill up for this winter.

Book Early

Even though there are plenty of hotels in Los Cabos, you’ll want to book early for your vacation to get the best options to select from.

All-inclusives are super popular in the destination, so they tend to fill up the quickest.

All-inclusives in Los Cabos range from a couple of hundred dollars a night to as much as $1,500, so if you don’t book early, you could be left with just the priciest hotels to choose from.

Consider New Hotels Opening In 2024

As you’re planning your Los Cabos winter vacation and seeing the hotels fill up, rest assured that there are even more options coming in 2024.

You may want to follow these openings to see if they might be an option for your vacation.

Some of the new hotels coming to Los Cabos next year are the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Cabo San Lucas at Cabo del Sol,  Park Hyatt Los Cabos at Cabo del Sol, Soho House Beach Club, and Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos.

Research Alternative Lodging Options

In addition to all-inclusive resorts and traditional hotels, there are several other lodging options in the area.

Vacation rentals, which can be found on platforms like Airbnb, are popular and can be an affordable option.

There are also smaller, boutique-style hotels, some of which are immersed in the best of Los Cabos nature.

Expect Crowds

The period between December and April is the busiest season in Los Cabos.

It goes from the crowds trying to escape the cold in the U.S. and Canada straight to spring break crowds from March to April.

If you’re visiting during this time, you should expect to deal with large crowds during your vacation.

Don’t Wait Until The Last Minute To Book Excursions

As Los Cabos gets busier and busier this winter and the hotels fill up, the excursions will book up quickly too.

The destination is popular for water activities, hiking, and other land tours, and while there are many tours available, some of the best ones sell out fast.

As soon as you know you’re taking a Los Cabos vacation and you book your hotel and flights, excursions should be the next thing on the list because you can always cancel later, but you can’t book something that isn’t available.

Restaurant Reservations May Be Necessary

Many Los Cabos tourists who book all-inclusive resorts do a lot of their dining on the resort property.

This is especially true now that all-inclusives have stepped up their game and offer some great dining options.

Off-resort restaurants do get busy though, so during the winter months, you might want to make reservations if you have somewhere special in mind.

Prebook Ground Transportation

With all of the tourists visiting Los Cabos during the winter months, you can expect the airport to be busy too.

It’s a good idea to pre-book your transportation to your hotel anyway, but even more so during these busy months.

The last thing you want to do is arrive at the airport and have to fight to find transportation, so book in advance and be sure you can get right to your hotel to begin your Los Cabos vacation.
