Los Cabos – A Nature Lover’s Paradise

You may not realize it when you’re in the tourist areas of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, but Los Cabos is actually a nature lover’s paradise.

Just a couple of hours from Los Cabos, you’ll find the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range, and within and around it are all kinds of surprises.

We’ll talk about a few of those natural wonders here, as they make for great alternatives to the now-closed El Chorro hot springs.

Santa Rita Hot Springs – 1 Hour 50 Minutes

The Santa Rita hot springs are about 20 minutes outside of a very little town called Santiago.

The hot springs are typically more frequented by locals and can be pretty packed, but if you go early, it’s possible you’ll get some solo time.

To get to the Santa Rita hot springs, you have to pay a small fee of $11 to a private landowner whose property you’ll have to cross to get to them.  There is also a natural spring with cooler water right next to the hot spring.

San Jorge Hot Spring – 1 Hour 50 Minutes

The San Jorge hot springs are also close to the town of Santiago, so if you wanted to, you could check out two hot springs in one day.

This spot is a little more difficult to find and will take a little hiking to get there, but it has three stunning pools and beautiful lush vegetation that make the search worth your time.

Hiring a local guide is a great way to get to the springs and see other sights along the way.

Natural Hot Springs Of El Sargento – 2.5 Hours

The Natural Springs of El Sargento are a bit further away but might very well be one of the most unique hot springs you ever have or will see.

They are located on a beach that is very fittingly called Hot Springs, but you’ll have to look and do a little digging to find them.

This is because the hot springs are underneath the sand.  You’ll have to dig about half a foot down to start seeing the water, but you can dig yourself a huge hole just to sit back and relax in.  And you can jump in the ocean if you get too warm too!

Bonus Nature Site Nearby – Cascada Sol de Mayo

If you visit the hot springs near Santiago, you’ll be near another amazing nature site that you wouldn’t expect to find near Los Cabos.

Cascada Sol de Mayo is a beautiful waterfall that can be found within the Sierra de la Laguna mountains.

The hike to it is about half a mile and gives you the opportunity to see some of the mountain and desert landscape too.
