Top travel site TripAdvisor ranked the top 25 all inclusive hotels in Mexico as part of their Travelers’ Choice awards for 2022. This year it’s a Cabo property that took the cake as the best all-inclusive hotel in all of Mexico. The top ranked hotel was awarded to the Grand Velas resort in San Jose del Cabo. 

It beat out many hotels located along Mexico’s Caribbean coast particularly in the Cancun region, as well as a hotel in Puerto Vallarta which were all part of the top 5 this year. In total 5 Cabo based hotels made the top 25 list. Here is what made the Grand Velas the best all inclusive hotel in Mexico in 2022.     

How Were The Hotels Ranked? 

According to information provided by TripAdvisor there are set guidelines that they follow to create their hotel rankings through their award scheme. The most important element to their rankings are user reviews on the TripAdvisor website. They claim that resorts or hotels are selected based on the “quality and quantity of traveler reviews and ratings posted on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period”. After the reviews are quantified there’s an “editorial process” to select the winners. 

Part of this editorial process takes into account negative scenarios or situations that could’ve taken place at particular hotels. For example if serious safety incidents have taken place at a particular property that can hamper its grade in the ranking. Reports of discrimination or mistreatment by hotel staff also considerably downgrade a property in the rankings. These criteria seem to indicate that overall TripAdvisor users that spent nights at the Grand Velas in San Jose del Cabo were amongst the happiest travelers of all. 

What To Expect From A Stay At The Grand Velas In San Jose del Cabo

For travelers who want to verify that the reviews submitted to Trip Advisor by fellow tourists were accurate by staying at the Grand Velas in San Jose del Cabo, here are some of the things that they can expect at this particular property. Essentially this Grand Velas property is composed of different suites that are meant to accommodate from a group of 6 people to the couples’ suite that includes a king size bed and in-room jacuzzi on a balcony overlooking the beach. 

The All-Inclusive deal includes food and drinks at the resort. This applies to room service, the pool side bar, drinks brought down to the private beach area, as well as meals at the 7 on property restaurants. There are usually certain items on the menus at each restaurant that may not be included in the all-inclusive deal. That’s something to watch out for.

Apart from food and drinks guests are able to enjoy 3 infinity pools on property. Two of those pools are for the whole family, with one of them being exclusively for adults. There are also a wide variety of activities that tourists can take part in either within the resort or off property, but which are offered by the resort. These can range from things like cooking classes, or wine tastings to golf in the nearby course, and even snorkeling tours. Virtually all of these activities come at an extra cost, but can be booked directly with the hotel.

4 Out Of The 5 Cabo Properties On The List Are Located In San Jose del Cabo 

Plenty of new Cabo guests may be unaware of the fact that Cabo San Lucas is just one of the cities within the Cabo area. Searching for Cabo San Lucas resorts only could cheat tourists out of an opportunity to experience San Jose del Cabo resorts. Ironically enough there was only one Cabo San Lucas property featured on the top all-inclusive resorts list by TripAdvisor. Both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo feature their own unique benefits. 

For example, properties in San Jose del Cabo are generally going to be closer to the airport, and the traditional downtown area. In Cabo San Lucas tourists will be closer to the marina area that features multiple restaurants, and some of the best nightlife in the region. The Trip Advisor ranking shouldn’t necessarily make travelers shy away from properties in Cabo San Lucas. It is a good reminder though that there are great options in San Jose del Cabo, and that each of the “Capes” features its own set of benefits.
