Los Cabos has completely recovered from the COVID-19 slump, and the popularity of the destination is on the rise.

The number of flights to Cabo has continued to climb over the last couple of years. In the first 5 months of 2023, the number of flights to Cabo increased by 15% compared to the numbers in that same time period throughout 2022.

The destination also continues to ascend in popularity amongst foreign travelers. Particularly those arriving in Cabo from the United States.

Out of all the flights that arrive in Cabo, 60% of them are coming from a foreign country, with 80% of those international flights taking off from U.S. airports.

Multiple U.S. Airlines are looking to capitalize on this growth in popularity by adding routes to the Mexican Pacific.

This has not only helped connect different U.S. cities to the destination, but the increase in the number of routes has also helped to lower the prices of air travel to Cabo, particularly from U.S. cities like Los Angeles that have multiple airlines offering routes to the local airport.

Why People Are Coming To Cabo

According to Fernando Ojeda Aguilar, Tourism Secretary for the state of Baja California Sur, where Los Cabos is located, most of the travelers that come to Cabo still do so for the sunny beaches that the destination offers.

However, it’s also true that there are other activities that tourists are able to enjoy at this destination. Such as camel rides through the desert sands or ATV tours throughout some of these same paths.

Cabo is in a unique geographic location that allows it to feature different types of landscapes that are not typical of other Mexican beach towns.

It’s not only the desert by the beach landscape that makes Cabo unique. It also boasts one of the most lively small-town Mexico experiences in the San Jose del Cabo city center, where travelers can enjoy a tour of the traditional church located in the main square.

That same spot is also home to art presentations and quite a few restaurants to enjoy a nice dinner at a rate typically lower than what tourists are expected to pay for dinner at the Cabo Marina.

Although American tourists are the ones that come to Cabo the most, it may actually be European tourists that enjoy the region to the fullest.

According to the most recent data, European tourists tend to spend more time in the region. That means that they’re more likely to explore nearby cities like La Paz, Loreto, and some of the other popular tourists spot in the area.

More European tourists are expected to arrive in Cabo thanks to the return of the direct flight between Madrid, Spain, and the airport in San Jose del Cabo this summer.

How Much Can You Expect To Pay For Your Cabo Vacation?

Apart from talking about the increase in the number of passengers that are arriving in Cabo, the Tourism Secretary also provided an estimate on the amount of money that tourists are typically spending while in Cabo in 2023.

According to him, people can expect to spend up to 500 dollars a day while in Cabo. This estimate is set to include the amount of money that travelers are spending on things like lodging, food, entertainment, and other expenses while on their vacation.

Los Cabos Hotels

On average, a night at a Los Cabos All-Inclusive hotel sits right around that 450 to 500 dollar range. This data could help people coming to Cabo decide what type of lodging option can work best for their situation.

They could be spending the same amount of money for a Cabo vacation at a normal resort without an all-inclusive package as they would if they paid the full package and had all of their food taken care of by the resort. Choosing to stay at an all-inclusive could save travelers money in the long run since everything is included in the nightly rate.

Travelers should keep in mind, though, that at an all-inclusive, they may feel more tied down to the resort since leaving would mean they are spending money on things that would be included if they stayed.

By staying in a non-all-inclusive, even if you spend the same amount outside a resort, you may have a bit more freedom to explore different things that Cabo has to offer.

Planning out what you want from your Los Cabos vacation will help you decide which option is best for you.
