People who’ve always dreamed of living the rockstar life may be able to do so in this unique Airbnb experience in Cabo San Lucas. Over the last few days an Airbnb listing came up claiming to be the Cabo home of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith. According to the official Airbnb listing Casa Cortez, as the property is known, used to belong to Smith, but is now under new management, and it’s the current owners that are using the drummers’ name to promote the property.
The House Offers VIP Treatment For Guests
The official Airbnb listing on the property known as Casa Cortez mentions that up to 8 guests are able to stay at the home per night. The property features 4 bedrooms with 5 beds, and 4.5 bathrooms. A night at the property costs travelers 718 dollars, and there’s a 3 night minimum stay policy. Currently there seem to be quite a few travelers that have already booked their stay at Casa Cortez. The property only has 4 days left available for rent this month, and from there, potential guests would have to wait until September to get a chance to visit the beachside home.
Casa Cortez is located in a well known gated community in Cabo San Lucas known as Cabo Bello in Playa del Rey. This neighborhood sits atop a cliff that overlooks the sea of Cortez. Thanks to the fact that the property offers a rooftop patio, its Airbnb hosts claim it’s a perfect spot for whale watching, star gazing, sun bathing and a ton of other activities.
Even though the home sits on top of a cliff it has a sand filled walkway for guests in the house to stroll down to the Playa del Rey beach. Only people staying within the neighborhood have access to that private beach therefore, it’s usually not filled to the brim as other public beaches in the region tend to be.
Comments from travelers who had a chance to stay in the home are overwhelmingly positive. One former guest commented that the private chef service that the home featured was, “worth every penny”. Interestingly enough, the listing itself does not mention the fact the home comes with a personal chef service. It does mention though that there’s a house cleaning staff on duty to cater to the needs guests may have.
Chad Smith Still Holds A Very Deep Connection To Cabo
It’s not necessarily clear when or even if Chad Smith officially sold Casa Cortez to the new owners who are allegedly the ones advertising the property on Airbnb. What is clear is the fact that the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer still visits the region even though he may have sold the home sometime in the last few years. Chad was among the many rock legends that were on hand for the 30 year anniversary of Cabo Wabo cantina in 2020.
The place is owned by musician Sammy Hagar, and a couple of local investors. On that occasion the cantina’s anniversary may have flown a bit under the radar because of the pandemic. Still, rock legends like the late Eddie Van Halen, U2’s Bono, Slash, and others including Chad Smith were on hand to celebrate the occasion.
Chad has even credited his Cabo escapades with musician friends for the creation of the group Chickenfoot which he’s been a part of since 2008. It all started one night when Smith came down from Casa Cortez, to the Cabo Wabo cantina and got on stage to perform. This Airbnb listing along with some well known Cabo hotspots are venues that have witnessed rock history for sure.
