Los Cabos keeps enriching its long list of accolades with yet another award.

A few days ago, this stunning location earned a gold Travvy Award for Best Destination in Mexico.

Los Cabos was awarded for a variety of reasons, ranging from its luxurious resorts, its blue-flag beaches, and its diversity of activities offering something for all types of tourists.

Apart from Los Cabos, Riviera Maya was awarded a silver Travvy, while Puerto Vallarta was awarded the bronze position. But what are the Travvy Awards?

The Travvy Awards

Now on their ninth edition, the Travvy Awards recognize the top travel industry suppliers ranging from hotels, tour operators, airlines, and, of course, destinations.

So why did so many people decide to vote for Los Cabos? This initiative is produced by TravelPulse, a popular website publishing news related to the travel industry, and AGENTatHOME, as their website suggests: “the only publication written for and distributed exclusively to home-based travel agents.”

Nominees are selected by the two companies’ editorial teams, but everyone has the possibility to vote for their favorite resorts, cruise, or destination, making the process as democratic as possible.

So, what made Los Cabos win over other popular Mexican destinations?

State-of-the-art amenities

In recent years, Los Cabos has become synonymous with luxury and opulence. This corner of Mexico is home to an incredible variety of all-inclusive resorts where people can enjoy amazing pools with ocean vistas, state-of-the-art spas, and high-end restaurants serving recipes created by world-renowned chefs.

Every year, more and more hotel corporations realize the potential of Los Cabos and open new five-star hotels and massive resorts, bringing new luxurious properties to this area.

Not by chance, humongous corporations such as Hyatt and Four Seasons are now working on the creation of new resorts in this popular destination.

On top of this, the Grand Velas Hotel just opened the doors of its latest creation, the Grand Velas Boutique, a new property now accepting reservations for December.

This Boutique is smaller and cheaper compared to the Grand Velas Resort and is located along the famous Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.

Blue-flag beaches

One of the other main reasons why so many people decided to vote for Los Cabos is surely the incredible conditions of its shores.

Chileno Bay beach

Not by chance, this is the North American destination with the highest number of certified blue beaches. But what does this mean?

A beach is given the so-called ‘blue-certification’ when meeting certain criteria related to a variety of fields, among which accessibility for the disabled, lifeguard certifications, cleanliness of the water, contingency plans in the event of an emergency, safety and security, and more.

At the moment, Los Cabos has a total of 25 beaches certified to this standard. Some of these include several segments of the popular El Médano Beach, Chileno Beach, Las Viudas, La Palmilla Beach, La Ribera, La Gaviota, and many others.

Great activities for all tourist types

Lastly, tourists are attracted by the many activities offered by Los Cabos. From whale-watching tours to spa days and hiking trails, the options are endless.

Sporty people can spend their days surfing, horseback riding, or hiking in one of the UNESCO-certified reserves in the area, such as the Sierra de La Laguna Biosphere Reserve.

Animal lovers can take a boat tour to see whales playing in their natural habitat, go bird watching in the San José del Cabo Estuary, or swim with whale sharks.

Los Cabos is also extremely popular among foodies, with over one in ten visitors choosing to visit this place to try the local Mexican cuisine.

Los Cabos was recently chosen by the Michelin Guide as one of the destinations its world-renowned food experts will soon visit to see whether any of the famous restaurants here deserve a Michelin star.

In other words, it doesn’t matter whether you want to spend your day relaxing at the spa, taming the Pacific Ocean waves, or trying new delicious flavors, Los Cabos always has something to offer.
