One of the most popular things to do when visiting Los Cabos is to go out and enjoy the nightlife, particularly in downtown Cabo San Lucas.   

And while both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are safe places to visit, extra security at night is a way to ensure the safety of those who wish to enjoy the nightlife.   

For this reason, Los Cabos has increased security in bars and nightclubs in order to protect tourists enjoying the nightlife.

According to reports, the increased security, launched by the General Directorate of Public Security, Preventive Police, and Municipal Traffic of Los Cabos, consists of increased patrols in certain areas where the nightlife is the busiest.   

Surveillance operations will also be carried out, with increased surveillance at strategic points throughout Los Cabos.   

Access to certain areas and various establishments will also be monitored under security official supervision.

Reason For Added Security 

The reason for the added security, in simple terms, is to be able to better protect those who wish to enjoy Los Cabos’ exciting nightlife.   

But the bigger reason has to do with keeping everything running smoothly and preventing accidents from happening in an area where people tend to go to indulge in drinking and partying.   

Some of the things security officials will be tasked with include keeping traffic moving steadily, looking out for drivers under the influence, ensuring drivers are following proper safety measures, and verifying that establishments are following the required schedules.

Crime In Los Cabos, Or Lack Thereof 

Los Cabos is known for being one of the safest vacation destinations in Mexico due, in part, to the fact that the peninsula is not connected to the rest of the country.   

In fact, according to a recent report, Los Cabos was ranked as the 4th safest Mexican city out of 75 that were analyzed.   

To be sure, crime is not non-existent in Los Cabos, but security operations like the one currently being launched are what keep the area safer, particularly in tourist areas like downtown Cabo San Lucas.

Los Cabos 

Los Cabos is made up of two different cities that each offer a different experience, not just in their nightlife scenes but in general.   

San Jose del Cabo is a smaller, quieter town with a more authentic vibe and a thriving artist community.   

Cabo San Lucas, on the other hand, has a bustling marina and downtown area and is full of energy.

San Jose del Cabo Nightlife 

San Jose del Cabo’s nightlife is a bit more subdued than that of its more rowdy counterpart.   

You will find a pretty good selection of local establishments and upscale bars, though, many of which are open late and offer live music.   

Some of the best nightlife spots in San Jose del Cabo include Mixology Fusion Bar, Dalton Gin Bar, and Omnia Nightclub at the Vidanta Resort.

Cabo San Lucas is where the nightlife is a bit more wild, with high-energy clubs and bars that offer nightly entertainment.   

Most of these places are in the downtown area, just outside of the Cabo San Lucas marina.

While San Jose del Cabo does have its own version of nightlife, you’re less likely to see a huge increase in security there.   

Cabo San Lucas is where you’ll see the bulk of the added security because it’s the more rowdy nightlife spot.
