Local authorities in Los Cabos have launched an extensive naval operation to ensure that tourists who come to Los Cabos are safe within its beaches.

Apart from the lifeguards who will be on the beach looking after people, the Mexican Marines have deployed a few boats that are going to be patrolling the Cabo shoreline until the end of the vacation period in late August.

Over 117 marines and civilian workers are going to be part of the task force that’s meant to help people both at sea and on land throughout this period.

There are going to be 3 boats from the Mexican Marines used to patrol the shores. Also, the Marines are going to increase the number of medical staff that’s set to be on hand.

Doctors and nurses are going to be on hand to be able to help tourists.

Tourists will be able to spot medical tents set up by the Mexican Marines near some of the most popular tourist spots in Cabo.

These are going to be accessible to both foreign and domestic travelers. In previous years these mobile medical facilities have mostly treated symptoms of heat stroke and even illnesses related to voluntary or involuntary intoxication.

Ten vehicles will also be deployed as part of the operation. Among those vehicles are ambulances and trucks to be able to tend to emergencies in parts of Cabo that may be harder to reach in conventional vehicles.

As previously stated, tourists are encouraged to reach out to members of the Mexican Marines or even the lifeguards on duty at local beaches to ask for help in case of a medical emergency or any life-threatening situation that they may find themselves in within Cabo.

Authorities Also Provided A Set Of Warnings For Locals & Tourists

As they launched this summer operation, local authorities also took the time to give out a couple of warnings to tourists and locals that will apply for the rest of the summer.

The first mandate is to follow the instructions of lifeguards at Cabo beaches at all times. Also, there was a warning sent out to parents to ensure that they don’t leave children swimming at local beaches unattended.

Beachgoers may be thrilled to find open spaces at public or even private beaches where they can set up their “camp.”

However, people are being warned not to obstruct access points to beaches or certain routes that are meant to be used by emergency vehicles.

Multiple Beaches In Los Cabos Currently Feature Specific Warnings

Speaking of following the instructions given by lifeguards on duty, a part of that is paying attention to the flags that wave on any particular beach.

For the last couple of weeks, local beaches have been filled with different types of warnings, mostly stemming from choppy waters near Cabo shores. Heading into the weekend, Playa El Chileno has white flags waving on its sand.

White flags do not mean that the coast is clear and swimming is encouraged. They indicate the presence of jellyfish and other potentially poisonous sea creatures.

Therefore, in these conditions, while swimming isn’t necessarily prohibited, it’s also not encouraged.

If people are stung by jellyfish or other sea creatures at Cabo beaches, they are advised to contact the lifeguard on duty.

Lifeguards at Cabo beaches typically have medication on hand to be able to treat jellyfish stings.

Some of the beaches that are currently closed off to swimmers heading into the weekend are Acapulquito, Palmilla, and La Ribera.

As well as the large beach that makes up the tourism corridor in San Jose del Cabo. Conditions may change over the coming days, so it’s important to check with the lifeguard on duty before going for a swim. At the very least, travelers should be on the lookout for the flags waving at the beach on any given day.
