The good news for travelers to Los Cabos is that it appears right now that there will be plenty of resort hotel rooms available for travelers looking to ring in the new year in the beach resort destination.
The downside is that those available rooms are costing last-minute visitors looking forward to a beach vacation getaway an average of $550 per night. By the way, that is in United States dollars.
High Demand for Rooms
While it looks like Los Cabos will not be completely full or sold out for the end of this year and the start of the new year, it will be a pretty busy time to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf in the third most popular destination in Mexico.
Current projections are for about 90 percent of the available resort and hotel rooms to be full in Los Cabos for celebrations to close out the year.
Officials with the Los Cabos Tourism Trust remarked that the occupancy number really has not shifted much as many of the available resort and hotel rooms were booked for the end-of-the-year holidays weeks and months in advance.
Leads to High Prices for Rooms
While there are still some rooms available for this weekend’s final celebration of the year, it will cost procrastinating travelers a pretty penny to enjoy the festivities in Los Cabos.
According to reports, the resort and hotel average room prices in Los Cabos is $550 per night for the weekend. That room rate is considered among the highest hotel accommodation charges for the New Year celebration this weekend anywhere in Mexico.
Recently, Los Cabos business owners recently canceled the fireworks show on El Medano beach to ring in the new year due to the risk of safety and security for travelers and locals.
However, a drone display is currently planned instead of the fireworks celebration.
Overall Strong Year for Los Cabos
This year is trending to close out as a strong tourism year for Los Cabos. The beach resort destination should end the year with an occupancy level close to 80 percent.
That will place Los Cabos solidly in third place among the tourist hotspots across Mexico.
Mexican Caribbean destinations Akaumal and Playacar are No. 1 and 2 so far on the list this year with 84.9 percent and 83.8 percent occupancy levels for the year, respectively. Los Cabos follows at No. 3.
Following Los Cabos are one emerging destination and two perennial powerhouse travel destinations in Mexico. Nuevo Nayarit came in at 76.2 percent, followed by Cancun at 76.1 percent and Puerto Vallarta at 74.6 percent occupancy levels.
Tips for Travelers
The continued popularity of Los Cabos as a travel destination means that visitors to the beach resort destination should get used to high resort and hotel room rates, especially during the peak spring and winter travel periods.
Because of this, tourists will need to book their accommodation, as well as flights, well in advance of any travel to Los Cabos in order to get the best pricing and preferred resort and hotel location.
Those who delay making reservations will have to face limited availability during the high travel periods in Los Cabos and will also have to pay some of the highest average room rates available in the entire country.
That was evident this popular end of year travel season where occupancy is expected to be near 90 percent and the only resort and hotel rooms available for last-minute travelers were averaging $550 per night.
Taking this advice, this is now the time to make reservations for the very popular spring travel season in Los Cabos. In fact, there have been reports from resorts and hotels in the beach resort destination of reservations already placed for this busy time.
