If you think Los Cabos is just beaches and tequila, think again. Turns out, more than half a million visitors come here with one major thing on their minds: food.
According to the Los Cabos Hotel Association, about 13% of Los Cabos tourists travel specifically with the destination’s booming culinary scene on their mind.
Cabo had 3.93 Million visitors last year…. that’s right—over 500,000 travelers came with fork (and margarita glass) in hand.
We at The Cabo Sun are officially declaring it: Los Cabos is a bona fide foodie paradise.

A Feast Worth Traveling For
What used to be a sun-and-sea getaway has evolved into a full-blown gourmet playground.
From beachside tacos to fine dining that earns Michelin Guide nods, Los Cabos now attracts globe-trotting gastronomes alongside the usual beachgoers.
Lilzi Orci, President of the Los Cabos Hotel Association, sees this as a sign of the destination’s culinary maturation:
“Gastronomy has taken on an impressive force in the destination. The gastronomic offering has grown a lot with the arrival of the Michelin Guide. This is the second year we’ve been here, and that consolidates gastronomy as something unique.”
She’s not exaggerating. Cocina de Autor Los Cabos located at the luxe Grand Velas Hotel, snagged a Michelin star for the second year running. Dutch chef Sidney Schutte and Jalisco-born Francisco Sixtos are behind its inventive tasting menus that wow even the most seasoned food critics.

Michelin Stars And Green Dreams
Beyond Cocina de Autor, a handful of other local gems are also shining under Michelin’s spotlight. Flora’s Field Kitchen and Acre were honored with the coveted “Green Star” for sustainable practices—a major win for conscious dining.
Other standout mentions include Comal at Chileno Bay, which also kept its Michelin star status for 2025 thanks to inventive Baja seafood and an open-air oceanfront setting.
In addition, Cabo is home to one-of-a-kind experiences like Pelican 11 (previously Animalon by the Sea), a floating tasting menu dinner cruise that pairs gourmet meals with views of Lover’s Beach and the iconic Arch.

Why It’s Worth It
Let’s break down what makes Cabo such a draw for food lovers:
- World-class chefs creating menus with both international flair and local soul
- Ocean-to-table freshness you can taste in every ceviche and sashimi bite
- Scenic settings from cliffside lounges to organic farm dining under the stars
- Michelin-level excellence without the snooty vibes
- Authentic Baja flavors elevated with modern twists

The Bigger Picture
While Cabo was once mainly known for golf, fishing, and beach lounging, it’s now a magnet for travelers who want experiences with flavor. As Orci puts it:
“Now this percentage comes because they want to eat at a particular restaurant, with a particular chef and try some culinary delight from Los Cabos.”
