There are many fantastic restaurants to choose from when visiting Los Cabos, but we’re going to share four of the best dining experiences in Cabo, according to voters in the Los Cabos Culinary Awards. Each of these restaurants offers something unique in some way that makes the experience special. It is for this reason that all of these restaurants were recently nominated in the 3rd edition of the awards event.
Bagatelle Los Cabos
The theme behind Bagatelle, “joie de vivre,” which translates to “exuberant enjoyment of life,” says it all when it comes to what makes this restaurant special. The French Mediterranean restaurant prides itself on its friendly festive atmosphere that is reminiscent of the south of France. French favorites and creative dishes are served family style in a beautiful home-like setting, and the atmosphere is nothing if not celebratory.
Hoja Santa Restaurant
Hoja Santa may only be open for breakfast and brunch, but it is anything but your average breakfast restaurant. Each dish is an explosion of flavor, with extravagant Mexican dishes, rich sweet breakfast treats, and creative beverages served in the charming, laid-back setting. The restaurant is tucked away in a lovely courtyard where it can barely be recognized, which gives the feeling of finding a secret garden in the middle of the city.
Many tourists who travel to Cabo go looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, but at Nicksan, visitors will find Mexican flavors with a Japanese twist. At Nicksan, Chef Angel Carbajal combines elements from the two very different types of cuisine to create original dishes hailed by a large group of followers that includes numerous celebrities. Now with two sleek, modern locations, visitors can dine on the one-of-a-kind dishes and various types of sushi either in the heart of Cabo San Lucas near the marina or in The Shoppes at Palmilla in San Jose del Cabo.
ORIGEN is a casual place that offers a unique spin on some of the world’s favorite foods. Serving up burgers, pizzas, and other fares that incorporate Mexican flavors, ORIGEN is far from your typical burger place. While the burgers are the star of the show at this obscure, off-the-beaten-path restaurant, though, they also get rave reviews for their tasty shakes and juicy wings too. With a trendy, laid-back atmosphere and a more city-like location, it is the perfect place to get away from the more touristy restaurants of the main hotel area.
None of these restaurants are located inside a resort, as so many popular Los Cabos restaurants are. They all require visitors to go beyond the walls of the all-inclusive resort to seek out something uniquely Cabo San Lucas. While visitors may not be able to try them all, dining at just one of these creative restaurants will result in a memorable experience.
In this 3rd edition of the Culinary Awards, a total of 139 different restaurants participated in the event. Of the 139 restaurants, 67 were nominated, some for more than one category. Voting was conducted through an app and an application distributed to the public, with the best of the year recently chosen.
During the nomination event for the Los Cabos culinary awards, the general director of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust, Rodrigo Esponda, said that 13 percent of visitors to Los Cabos say that they go for the culinary experience. This is why it is important to highlight the best experiences for tourists.
