In recent years, Los Cabos has established itself as one of the top luxurious destinations in Mexico.
With its state-of-the-art resorts and fine-dining restaurants, it’s not surprising that this locality was repeatedly chosen by celebrities such as Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Justin Biber for their holidays.
But five-star properties and world-renowned chefs also mean inflated prices. Not by chance, the Los Cabos Hotel Association reports that by the end of November 2023, a night in a luxury hotel in Los Cabos will reach the crazy price of $1,200.
Avoiding booking your stay now and postponing your holiday to the low season period is surely one of the best ways to save some bucks but, if this is not an option for you, there are still a few tips you can follow to avoid spending a small fortune.
Here is some advice to help Los Cabos tourists save money as luxury hotel rooms average over $1,000 per night.
Reconsider your accommodation
Even though a luxury room in the Los Cabos municipality is now over $1,000 per night, the price for an average room in a hotel costs less than $500.
But this is not all. Airbnb.com offers several accommodations ranging from $20 to $50 per night, making this luxurious destination accessible to all.
It’s important to remember that booking a more modest stay doesn’t necessarily mean giving up on activities such as days at the spa and romantic cruises to the famous Los Cabos arch.
Several all-inclusive resorts sell daily passes, giving access to most of their amenities, such as spas, fine-dining restaurants, and pools with ocean views.
Saving money on your flight
Together with the accommodation costs, the plane ticket to reach Los Cabos is usually the visitors’ highest expense.
But there are a few ways in which tourists can pay less, for instance, by opting for weekdays rather than weekends.
Most people tend to book their flight on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday to maximize their time off work and make the most out of the weekend.
If you’re working as a freelancer and don’t have limitations, booking your flight and accommodation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays will surely help you save some bucks.
On top of this, tourists should keep in mind that Mexican airlines tend to cost slightly less than American ones and that some companies offer yearly packages, allowing visitors to head to Los Cabos as many times as they want for a very cheap price.
Choose your activities carefully
Accommodations, flights… what’s missing? The activities, of course! Maybe you decided to book a vacation in Los Cabos to relax, spending your days at the spa in between steam rooms and massages.
Or you may be excited at the idea of spotting a whale on a whale tour. Regardless of why you decided to head to Los Cabos, there are ways in which you can maximize the costs devoted to your activities.
The best way is to opt for a mix of expensive and cheap experiences. For instance, you may decide to spend a hundred dollars on a whale tour to then spend the following day hiking in one of the UNESCO nature reserves in the municipality for a day full of adventure that will not drastically impact your wallet.
Tourists coming here to relax can opt for a morning spent at the spa and an afternoon sunbathing in one of the many Los Cabos blue-certified beaches, without having to spend a single penny.
People interested in food can book their dinner in the best restaurants in the area and try out street food for their lunches.
Always remember, Los Cabos offers a variety of low-cost activities and accommodations. Finding the right balance between high-end experiences and low-budget ones is the key to the perfect vacation!
