It’s pretty well-known that Los Cabos is by no means the cheapest place in Mexico to vacation.   

But for many of those that vacation in either Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo, especially repeat visitors, it’s worth the money.   

That doesn’t mean you can’t find ways to save on your Los Cabos vacation though, because Hotel prices depend on what you’re looking for.   

Knowing how much you can expect to pay for Los Cabos hotels this summer will help you determine whether you want to stick with something a little more budget-friendly or splurge on something more luxurious.   

Hotels In Los Cabos 

There is certainly no shortage of hotels in Los Cabos, so you have a lot to choose from.   

There are fancy all-inclusive resorts, high-end luxury hotels, smaller boutique-style hotels, large, luxurious villas, and even residences in Los Cabos.   

So, however budget-friendly or extravagant you want your vacation to be, it can be, because you have some control over how much you pay due to there being so many options.

European Style Vs. All-Inclusive 

Another factor that will play a role in how much your Los Cabos hotel will cost this summer is whether you want an all-inclusive or not.   

There are many all-inclusive resorts in both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, but there are plenty of excellent properties that aren’t as well, and those are considered European-style.   

This means you’ll have to pay for meals and drinks during your stay, and even some of the all-inclusive resorts offer this as an option.

The Summer Tourist Season 

Despite the fact that Los Cabos is a beach vacation destination, summer is the slowest season because it’s so hot.   

The majority of vacationers travel to the region during the winter months to escape cold temperatures at home.   

This not only makes the summer months less crowded, but hotels are typically less expensive too.

Price Range Of Los Cabos Hotels 

Prices for accommodations in Los Cabos vary greatly, but the average nightly rate, according to Los Cabos Hotel Association’s executive president, Lilzi Orcí, is $500 a night.   

Hotels that are not all-inclusive are generally a bit less expensive, and it’s important to remember if you decide not to book an all-inclusive, though, you might save money on your hotel room but spend more on food.   

This is because, as you know, depending on how much you eat and drink, the cost of food and beverage for 5 days can add up pretty quickly.

Hotel Rate Comparison  

To compare rates, we used a five-night stay during the middle of the summer, for the dates of July 21-26.   

We used Booking.com and filtered out the lowest-rated properties.   

We looked at both all-inclusive hotels and ones that are not all-inclusive.

The Most Expensive Properties 

When looking at the most expensive hotels for the five days, they go up as high as just over $8,000.   

If you’re planning to splurge, you can book a 2 bedroom 2 bath Oceanview Apartment at the Viceroy Los Cabos for $8,075.   

For something a little smaller but equally luxurious, Grand Velas Los Cabos comes in at $7,272 in an oceanview Ambassador Suite, and it’s all-inclusive.

Hotels For $500 Or Less A Night 

We found quite a few properties for around $2,500 for 5 nights, including ME Cabo for $2,504 for the Always ME Room, which is not an all-inclusive, Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos All Inclusive Golf & Spa for $2,400 for a Deluxe King Room, and a Premier Studio at Grand Solmar Land’s End Resort & Spa for $2,394.   

The lowest prices we found for highly-rated properties were Solmar Resort, priced at $660 for 5 nights in a King Studio, Hyatt Place Los Cabos, which was $698 for a King Room with Sofa Bed, and a Deluxe Room with 2 Queen Beds at Medano Hotel and Spa for $731.   

There are actually many properties that fall in between that $660 and $2,500 price range, so it seems it won’t be difficult to book your Los Cabos hotel stay for well below $500 a night.
