Last year, Los Cabos welcomed more than 4.5 million tourists from around the globe, which was about a 10 percent increase compared to 2022.
Now tourism officials are expecting a similar increase in the number of tourists who will visit the destination in 2024.
If you’re planning to visit this year, then you should book early because Los Cabos officials are expecting a record-breaking year.
Los Cabos Visitors So Far This Year
According to the numbers from reports from the Undersecretary of Tourism of Baja California Sur, Los Cabos is well on its way to beating last year’s record of 4.5 million visitors.
Just between the months of January and May the destination welcomed nearly 2 million tourists at its airport in San Jose del Cabo.
That’s nearly half of last year’s total just in the first five months of the year.
High Season Still To Come
While the spring break season is one of the busiest in Los Cabos, there is still another high season to come, and even though the summer is slower, thousands of tourists will still visit the destination during the summer months too.
During the winter months, though, tens of thousands of visitors come from cold weather destinations like the United States and Canada to Los Cabos to escape the cold.
The arrival of these tourists will increase the visitor numbers exponentially.
Changes In The Way Tourists Are Booking Their Los Cabos Vacations
Another thing that the report from the Undersecretary of Tourism of Baja California Sur revealed is that travelers visiting Los Cabos are booking their vacations differently now.
It used to be that they would book between three and six months out from the date of travel.
Now, the report shows that they’re booking just three months out.
Why Travelers Should Book Their Los Cabos Vacation Early
With other travelers waiting until the last minute to book, it’ll be more difficult to find what you’re looking for if you don’t book early.
The growing number of visitors year after year is another reason to book early because you never know how many travelers are planning a visit to Los Cabos.
Last but not least, with another high season on its way, a lot of travelers might already be booking their Los Cabos vacations, so you might want to consider booking early too.
Why Los Cabos Continues To Grow In Popularity
There are several things that Los Cabos has to offer that haven’t changed much and have made the destination as popular as it is.
The beautiful beaches, the luxury all-inclusives, and the wide array of water activities to be enjoyed, just to name a few.
There are also things that are just now being recognized by tourists, such as the abundance of nature-related activities and the amazing culinary scene, that are further enhancing the destination’s popularity.
Who’s Visiting Los Cabos The Most?
For a long time, the main demographic of tourists who visited Los Canos was travelers over the age of 50.
There has been a shift in the destination’s main market though. Now there are more millennials between the ages of 35 and 45 years old visiting Los Cabos.
Still, it’s a destination that can cater to travelers of all ages.
Where Are Los Cabos Tourists Staying
Luxury all-inclusives have long been the popular choice for travelers visiting Los Cabos, and still are.
Vacation rentals, or Airbnbs, are also popular.
Additionally, luxury hotels within exclusive private resort communities are growing in popularity too, but all-inclusives are still the most popular way to vacation in Los Cabos.
