Already one of the most connected luxury destinations, Alaska Air is joining the mix with another exciting new flight option for those seeking a sunny vacation.
With frigid cold weather at this time of year, who wouldn’t be in the market for a trip to paradise?
Los Cabos has recently seen a handful of airlines adding more flights. Tourism insiders anticipate an even bigger influx of travelers in 2024.
Even with expensive accommodations, vacationers are still able to score affordable flights. Alaska tends to have sales throughout the year, so it’s best to keep this airline on your radar to potentially save some hard-earned cash.
Alaska’s New Flight To Los Cabos
Taking an airline named Alaska Air seems counterintuitive to enjoy a warm-weather getaway, but there’s no need to pack beanies and mittens.
Despite the name, the airline will surprise you with its network of routes to some of the most scenic sunny places in North America, from San Diego to Cancun to Los Cabos.
Los Cabos is the latest addition for residents of one mega-popular U.S. city to enjoy a luxurious vacation or to simply escape the tourists in their own backyard.
Las Vegas is the lucky winner of Alaska’s new route to Baja’s top destination. Typically a sunny getaway in its own right, the nights do get very chilly in the desert.
Whether you need to escape the sounds of 24/7 slot machines or you just need to relax at a beautiful beach, Los Cabos is now a great option.
When Is The Launch Date?
Fortunately for travelers, there’s no need to wait for a ribbon-cutting ceremony as the inaugural flight has already launched this week (December 15).
Those in need of a Mexican beach vacay can now take to the skies with Alaska whenever they want through April 15, 2024 – just in time to splurge your tax refund.
The new Vegas-Cabo flight will be offered 4 times each week on the carrier’s fleet of Embraer 175 aircraft.
There was no promotional rate listed with the launch of this new route, but we did some digging ourselves.
One-way flights are as low as $119 in January and slightly higher in the $150’s in spring. Alaska’s website is easy to use and has a “View by calendar” feature to easily view the entire month’s fares to finalize your trip.
Other New Routes To Los Cabos
Alaska is a popular airline, especially on the west coast. However, they are late to the party in terms of adding new flights to Los Cabos.
Many others have taken notice of the millions of tourists pouring in to Cabo for the ultimate beach trip. By year’s end, projections show at least 4 million tourists will have made their way here.
Naturally, airlines want more pieces of the pie. Travelers can basically take the pick of almost any airline at this point, with the exclusion of Spirit, who became a party pooper and swapped their Cabo route for Tulum, and Allegiant, who does not fly internationally.
Other than that cost-savings duo, travelers from the U.S. and Canada will surely be able to reach Cabo easily, even if there is a layover.
Even Mexican airlines are an excellent alternative choice, as they now hold the highest FAA designation. In fact, there are plans to add 10 new flights from airlines of Mexican origin.
Here are the airlines with new flights to Los Cabos:
- Southwest
- WestJet
- JetBlue
- FunJet
- Iberojet (from Europe)
Alaska’s Sunny Getaway Expansion
On the off-chance Cabo isn’t your jam or it’s just simply out of budget, Alaska is expanding to other prime vacation destinations.
The carrier launched 5 inaugural nonstop routes to popular international hotspots this week. Las Vegas travelers can now fly to Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.
Los Angeles travelers can now travel to Guatemala City and Nassau. Seattle vacationers can now take Washington’s only direct route to Nassau, Bahamas.
