Throughout 2023, Los Cabos has been breaking previously-set tourism records, with travelers from all over the world flocking to the social media trending destination.

Because of the holiday season, tourism in Los Cabos has spiked once more, with thousands of travelers coming to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s with their friends and loved ones. 

A recent announcement has confirmed that Los Cabos has surpassed Cancun in terms of hotel occupancy during this holiday period.

Recent data has also confirmed that Los Cabos is not only the most popular destination in Mexico, but one of the top travel destinations in the world, as 77% of tourists want to visit. 

Since last year, hotel occupancy rates in Los Cabos around this time of year have increased by 3%. 

Due to its overflowing tourism, exemplary hospitality, and luxury accommodations, Los Cabos has risen in the ranks as one of the most popular vacation destinations in Mexico. 

Los Cabos is the Best Destination in Mexico 

In addition to the tourism rates, Los Cabos is confirmed to be one of the best destinations in Mexico because of all of the awards it has received in the past year. 

While there are numerous other tourist-favored destinations in Mexico, including Cancun, Cozumel, Tulum, and more, Los Cabos seems to be outranking them all and showing no sign of decreasing in popularity.

Los Cabos’ popularity has also shown on social media, as travelers have consistently posted about the raved-about destination on platforms like Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and more. 

Los Cabos has also been continuously mentioned by travel sites and publications like Trip Advisor, Priceline, and more. 

Recently, Los Cabos was named the best destination in Mexico by Travel Weekly in the 21st edition of the Travel Weekly Readers Choice Awards.

Los Cabos also received a similar accolade from the Reader’s Digest, and was most recently listed amongst  Travel + Leisure’s Best 50 Places to Travel in 2024

Los Cabos also received the Reader’s Choice award from Condé Nast and the Traveler’s Choice award from IMEX America in recent months.

What to do in Los Cabos for the Holidays 

The winter season is one of the best times to visit Los Cabos, as there are plenty of activities to do to celebrate the holidays while having fun in the sun. 

For instance, it’s peak animal-viewing season in the wintertime in Los Cabos, so you can be sure to see plenty of whales while whale watching, swim with dolphins, and see other marine animals at nearby parks and islands.

Winter is also one of the best periods to visit Los Cabos for amazing weather, as you don’t have to worry about impending storms or hurricanes, as hurricane season typically happens in the fall. 

Because of the spectacular weather conditions, you can do any and all of the popular beach activities, including scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, parasailing, and more. 

You can even go horseback riding on the beach at sunset or camel riding.
