There really is no bad time to take a Los Cabos vacation, but some months are better than others for various reasons that may or may not matter to some travelers.   

Factors like weather, crowds, cost, flight availability, and hotel occupancy can all affect travelers’ decisions regarding when to take a vacation.   

For those of you planning a vacation in one of the popular destinations of Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo, here is why April and May are the perfect months to visit Los Cabos.   

Weather 

If you’re looking for comfortable weather during your Los Cabos vacation, then April and May are the perfect time to visit.   

It’s not too hot and not too cold, with average high temperatures typically sticking to the mid-80s.   

It’s warm enough to spend some time on the beaches but mild enough to enjoy some fun outdoor activities, like hiking and ATVing.

Crowds 

Winter is the peak season in Los Cabos, so the crowds start to thin out by April and dwindle even more through May.   

The smaller crowds not only make it a little more peaceful in the vacation destination but also make it a better time to enjoy activities.   

Boat tours will have fewer tourists on them, waits at restaurants won’t be as long, and the beaches won’t be quite as packed during these months.

Cost 

Since April and May fall into the shoulder season rather than the peak travel season, the cost of certain things should go down during these months too.   

Nonstop roundtrip flights from Denver and New York, for example, can be found for around $300, from Los Angeles for less than $200, and from Dallas for around $270.   

And rates of less than $200 a night can be found for some highly rated resorts like Hotel Tesoro Los Cabos and Solmar Resort.

Flight Availability  

Since fewer travelers visit Los Cabos in April and May, the availability of flights should be better as well.   

Some routes may be seasonal and not run during these months, but the ones that do should be a little less crowded, which means more availability.

Hotel Occupancy  

With smaller crowds comes lower hotel occupancy, which means a couple of things for travelers visiting Los Cabos during the months of April and May.   

In addition to finding lower rates due to lower occupancy, visitors during these months will also enjoy a more peaceful vacation, particularly if visiting after the spring break crowd is all gone.   

Tourists who visit during this time will also find that the restaurants, pools, and lounges at all-inclusives are less crowded as well.

Things To Consider 

There are a few things to consider when planning an April or May vacation in Los Cabos, one being the fact that these months are not part of the whale-watching season.   

If this is an activity that you have your heart set on, then December – March would be a better time to visit Los Cabos.   

Also, technically the Pacific hurricane season begins in mid-May, although the peak season isn’t until around September, but travel insurance may be a good idea just in case.
