Taxis in Los Cabos are historically known for being pretty pricey, and the lack of taxi meters makes it fairly easy for taxi drivers to charge what they want.
Some tourists have reported paying as much as $100 one-way to get from the airport in San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas, and $70 just to get to the tourist area of San Jose del Cabo.
Now, taxis have been called out for their high prices, but there are a few great alternatives for getting around Los Cabos.
Airport Shuttles
Los Cabos Airport shuttles are a safe way to get from the airport to your destination and there are two options for travelers, a private shuttle or a shared shuttle.
To get from the airport to Cabo San Lucas you can expect to pay around $85 for private and around $20 for shared shuttles.
To get to a hotel in San Jose del Cabo you’ll pay around $65 for a private shuttle and about $15 for shared shuttle service.

Public Buses
Public buses may not be the most comfortable or convenient form of transportation for Los Cabos tourists, but it is definitely the least expensive.
To get from the airport to San Jose del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas it will only cost about $3.
You can also take a bus back and forth between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo for around $2.

Hotel Transportation
Many Los Cabos hotels offer their own transportation options, either complimentary or for a fee, or will handle the reservations for you.
The Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, for example, currently offers free transfers for guests, and Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos is running multiple special offers that include roundtrip airport transportation.
Some hotels will also offer this service if you stay a certain number of days.

Uber
Uber does operate in Los Cabos, and legally so, and it’s actually one of the most popular forms of transportation for tourists.
But, Uber drivers are not allowed to pick up from the airport yet, unless you meet them off of the airport property.
Despite the fact that the ride-sharing service can legally operate in Los Cabos, though, taxi drivers have been known to interfere with their operation.
Officials have even recently assigned inspectors to try to keep peace between Uber and taxi drivers.

Renting A Car
Just like at any other airport, there are car rental companies at Los Cabos International Airport, so renting a car is an option too.
With insurance that you will likely have to get in order to have full coverage, you can expect to pay around $30 a day for a car.
Renting a car for a 5-day trip, with gas included, will very likely cost less than taking a taxi back and forth between the airport and Cabo San Lucas.

Private Transportation
The most comfortable form of transportation to and from the airport is private transportation, and it isn’t much more expensive than a taxi.
When using private transfer services you also have the added bonus of being able to book in advance and have your driver meet you when you land at the airport.
You can expect to pay around $90 one way to Cabo San Lucas from the airport, and about $75 to get to San Jose del Cabo.
