From amazing natural areas, such as the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range and Cabo Pulmo National Park, to enchanted towns, such as Todos Santos and La Ventana, there are plenty of places worth visiting near Los Cabos.
But there is an area in particular that recently received lots of media attention after Forbes referred to it as ‘Mexico’s Best Kept Secret.’
We’re talking about The East Cape. But where is this place? Is it truly worth visiting?
And what are some activities offered to tourists there?
Everything you need to know about the East Cape
The East Cape is a secluded and peaceful stretch of land located about a 45-minute drive from San José del Cabo International Airport.
This area features plenty of beaches where only a few tourists are usually spotted vacationing due to the relatively tough road conditions leading to them.
The East Cape is also home to a variety of luxury resorts, including the famous Four Seasons and the White Lodge. But what can tourists do in this secluded stretch of land?
Some popular activities in East Cape
The East Cape offers plenty of activities for all tourist types. Water sports are surely among the most popular. People head here to level up their surfing game or drive to Los Barriles to try out some windsurfing.
Alternatively, this area is also ideal for water activities such as snorkeling and diving. Cabo Pulmo National Park is the perfect natural area to do so.
Here, people will find all sorts of marine animals ranging from sea lions to turtles, mata rays, clownfish, jackfish walls of jackfish, and more.
ATV driving is another popular activity in the East Cape. Companies offering this service often drop your vehicle right in front of your resort and then guide you to the best dunes in the area where you can test your driving skills.
These sorts of activities often also include a scenic drive along the Sea of Cortez and the East Cape to get the best view of the area.
Lastly, people can simply enjoy their stay in their accommodation. Most people heading here opt for the luxurious Four Seasons resort. This incredible property gives its guests plenty of options on how to spend their days in this secluded stretch of land.
This resort has several different pools, from family-friendly ones to couple-only options, with some of these featuring heating systems that are activated during the coldest months of the year.
The Four Seasons resort is also home to an Oasis Spa offering several treatments, including hot stones and aromatherapy for the ultimate relaxation.
Other nearby areas worth visiting
Once in the East Cape, there are a few places you cannot miss. Number one on our list is La Paz. You can reach the capital of Baja California Sur with a relatively quick drive from there.

Alternatively, you can visit one of the most popular beaches in this Mexican state, the famous Balandra Beach, recently voted among the best in the world by TripAdvisor users. Lastly, you can opt for a quick trip to the popular Isla Espiritu Santo.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to fully immerse yourself in the most authentic Mexican laid-back lifestyle, you can do so in one of the many villages located near the East Cape.
From Miraflores to Los Barriles, and la Ventana, your options are endless.
