This Los Cabos Speakeasy Brings 1920s Class To Cabo

Share The Article

The La Botica is a class-filled speakeasy that transports visitors back to the heyday of 1920s Chicago.

In the destination of Los Cabos, there are no shortages of bars, nightclubs, cantinas, and beach clubs. Many of them have their own unique approach to give tourists an unforgettable experience, but in the lively vacation spot of Los Cabos, the style and atmosphere of La Botica will wow every visitor.

Where & When

Set on the grounds of Las Ventanas al Paraíso, the famous 5-star Rosewood resort, La Botica is class surrounded by class. Just a 15-minute cab ride from San Jose Del Cabo and a 20-minute cab ride from Cabo San Lucas, La Botica is almost at the halfway point between both cities, making it accessible for all.

The establishment is open Tuesday to Sunday every week, with the bar serving drinks from 7 pm to 1 am, and the world-class live entertainment runs from 9:30 pm to 12:30 am.

Entertainment

This isn’t a cheap theme bar. La Botica takes its role as a 1920s speakeasy seriously, with outstanding live entertainment every night it’s open. Guests will be treated to superb entertainers such as magicians and dancers.

But the real star of the show is Rosalía de Cuba, a renowned artist that brings Cuban, Caribbean, and Latin music to life with her powerful voice and rhythm-filled band. Past guests at La Botica know they’ve experienced something special, and the show put on by Rosalía de Cuba has everyone on the dance floor moving to the beat.

One Of A Kind Drinks

The drinks menu at La Botica can’t be found anywhere else in Los Cabos.

La Botica translates to “The Apothecary” in English, and the pharmacy of times past influences the style and make-up of every one-of-a-kind cocktail at this stylish establishment. Furthermore, it isn’t just cocktails on offer. Being a speakeasy, La Botica, of course, has many prohibition-era-inspired classics.

Only the finest spirits, liquors, syrups, and infusions go into each drink, and guests won’t find cheap bottom-shelf ingredients being used here.

But this quality, care, and out-of-the-box thinking doesn’t come cheap.

There is a $75 minimum spend per person, with many of the signature cocktails costing as much as $50.

Delicious Bar Snacks

La Botica is, first and foremost, a bar with live entertainment, but that doesn’t mean guests are resigned to drinking on an empty stomach.

There is a super original bar snacks menu that will keep revellers’ stomachs lined and primed for the next cocktail.

How To Enter

No speakeasy would be complete without a hidden and unassuming entrance, and La Botica delivers.

The entrance is located next to the Las Ventanas al Paraíso spa through a door that could just as easily lead to a janitor’s closet.

Guests will need the secret passcode for the door. The last known code was ‘80’, although this changes often. Never fear, though. The passcode can be easily obtained from the resort reception.

Leaving La Botica is just as interesting as every other piece of this experience. At the back of the establishment is a classic Coca-Cola machine, an original piece of Americana that acts as a secret exit to give guests the feeling that they’re escaping from Eliot Ness and his ‘Untouchables’.

What Is A Speakeasy?

Speakeasies are based on secret establishments that sold alcoholic beverages during the prohibition era in the United States.

These establishments were often hidden behind unmarked doors in basements or back alleys and required a special password or secret knock to gain entry.

They were a haven for those who wanted to enjoy a drink after work or at the weekend, away from the prying eyes of law enforcement who were on a mission to enforce the ban on alcohol.

This period in American history has left its mark on the world as well as the United States, with 1920s Chicago-style speakeasies becoming a popular addition in cities across the globe.

I recently had a tour of the available sites for sale that Kerry set up for us with Carla, I believe that is her name. We are very interested in purchasing a site. I would like to inquire about renting a site that would be available for next season. Is this an option? After spending a season out there we will know for sure if we want to buy.

Thank you,
