Hiking Safety 101

Avid hikers take several precautions before even heading out on a hike.

One of those precautions is informing family and/or friends of where and when they are going hiking in case something happens and they don’t hear from you.

They’ll know where to send someone to look.  Additionally, it is extremely important to go out on a hike prepared for the environment you’re in, which we’ll go over regarding Los Cabos later.

Dangers To Watch Out For When Hiking

Some dangers are always present when hiking, while others are specific to location.

Falling or otherwise getting injured can happen no matter where you go.  Running into wildlife is also something to consider and prepare for.

In Los Cabos specifically, the warm desert climate can be dangerous as well.  Fortunately, there are several things you can bring to prepare for most of these dangers.

What To Bring With You On Your Hiking Adventure

Some of the things you should bring on your hiking trip, no matter where you go, are obvious.

You want to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water to hydrate; that’s a given.

Other things you want to bring may not be so obvious, like something warm to wear in case you get stuck somewhere, a first aid kit in case of getting injured, a whistle to ward off wildlife, and non-perishable food items are all important too.

Looking for a lil hiking adventure in Cabo? Then hiking Mt Solmar is for you! The view of cabo isn’t better from anywhere else! This hike starts on private land at a dog training facility and you can enter once a day! Get there by 8am? He closes the gate by 8:15am. You can find the starting point on All Trails & also on Google Maps as “the hike”. The starting point is near the marina. This is great for whale watching season too because you can see whales from above! Definitely bring water!
