One of the things that visitors enjoy the most about Los Cabos is its amazing beaches, and there are more than 25 of them throughout the destination, which includes both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.
When visiting Los Cabos beaches, it’s common for beachgoers to rent chairs and umbrellas, especially those planning to spend the whole day at the beach.
Most of the destination’s beaches have vendors renting out both, and some even have too many, which is why Los Cabos is introducing beach chair and umbrella vendor caps, to improve the beach experience for tourists.
How Many Is Too Many?
According to Los Cabos officials, the beaches in the destination are flooded with beach chairs and umbrella vendors, and it’s getting to be too much.
This is why officials have put a cap on how many vendors can operate on the beach.
That number is now 695 vendors that are currently registered to operate on the destination’s beaches.
What This Means For Tourists
As far as rentals go, you’ll still have no problem finding them on Los Cabos’s busiest beaches for your beach day.
You’ll also be able to enjoy the beaches in Los Cabos a little bit more due to the decrease in vendors flooding them.
While some vendors are necessary, officials want tourists to be able to enjoy the beaches too.
Where You’ll Find The Most Vendors
Medano Beach, located near the marina in Cabo San Lucas, is where you’ll find the most beach vendors.
This is Los Cabos’s most active beach due to its location.
It’s also a favorite among tourists visiting the destination.
Los Cabos Cracking Down On Illegal Vendors Too
In addition to limiting the number of beach chair and umbrella rental vendors, Los Cabos is also cracking down on illegal vendors.
This is an effort to enhance the beach experience for tourists and make the beaches safer.
They’re cracking down on illegal vendors on three popular Los Cabos beaches, Medano Beach, Lover’s Beach, and Divorce Beach, all located in Cabo San Lucas.
Alternatives To Renting Chairs And Umbrellas On The Beach
If you don’t want to rent beach chairs and umbrellas from beach vendors, you have two other options for a laid-back beach day.
The first is using the cabanas on the beach right outside of your resort.
The other option is to pay to join one of the many beach clubs situated along the beaches. These clubs typically provide some type of seating and shade coverage.
Los Cabos’s Most Popular Beaches
As mentioned, Medano Beach is Los Cabos’s most popular beach, and as such, you can expect it to be packed with both beachgoers and beach vendors.
There are several other popular Los Cabos beaches that will have fewer of both.
Those beaches are:
- Santa Maria Beach
- Chileno Beach
- Palmilla Beach
- Cannery Beaches
Cabo San Lucas Vs. San Jose Del Cabo – Which Has The Best Beaches
Which destination has the best beaches, Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo, really depends on what you’re looking for.
If you want a high-energy party beach that’s swimmable, then Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas is where to go, whereas if you’re not planning to swim and just want a quieter beach to soak up the sun, Hotel Beach in San Jose del Cabo is a great choice.
If you want a little bit of both, a swimmable beach that’s less crowded than Medano Beach, then the beaches along the Tourist Corridor that runs between the two cities are your best option.
