Los Cabos officials are rolling out the red carpet to make sure travelers to the beach resort destination enjoy a great vacation getaway during the peak spring holiday travel season.

In order to make sure tourists have the information they need easily accessible; the municipal government is working with state and federal officials to set up a number of help points where travelers can get help they need to enjoy their vacation.

Tourist Help Points

Throughout Baja California Sur, there will be a total of 90 different help points set up in tourist locations to provide information and answer tourist questions.

Until March 31, nearly 1,850 staff from all three levels of government, the military and even local volunteers will be positioned to help travelers with their questions.

They are staffed by local experts that can answer everything from directions to popular tourist spots all the way to recommending activities, hotels and even restaurants for the spring holiday travel season.

There will also be representatives of local police, security, rescue agencies, civil protection and community groups able to also assist if visitors need trained law enforcement or first responder help.

According to a report, tourist help points are conveniently located at the popular tourist beaches around Los Cabos, which attract families, including Zacatitos, La Playita, Palmilla, El Tule, and Migriño.

There is also a tourist help point located at the popular Wal-Mart Supercenter in town.

Addressing Safety Concerns

The tourist help points are part of a response to several reports of travelers’ concerns about their safety and security in Mexico during the popular and very busy peak spring holiday travel period.

There have been several reports of robberies, thefts, and other crimes involving tourists in several popular tourist destinations prior to the start of the holiday travel period across the country.

The idea is that, in part, staffing the tourist help spots with law enforcement and first responders, in addition to volunteers able to answer common tourist questions, would provide spring travel guests to Los Cabos with a renewed sense of safety and security during their vacation getaway.

The United States Department of State maintains its Level Two: Exercise Increased Caution travel advisory recommendation for Baja California Sur based on the level of crime in the area.

According to the Department of State report, criminal activity and violence may occur throughout the state.

Despite the low level of travel advisory, the United States Misson to Mexico issued a travel advisory with tips and recommendations for United States citizens traveling to Mexico for the current peak spring holiday travel period.

Final Details for Travelers

Tourists traveling internationally should always take precautions to protect themselves regardless of the destination they travel to. That includes nearby countries such as Mexico and Canada.

However, officials from Los Cabos, the State of Baja California Sur and the Mexican federal government are all trying to assist to help travelers feel safe and secure while enjoying the sun, sand and surf of Los Cabos during this peak spring holiday travel period.

That includes deploying law enforcement and first responders to staff help points to assist tourists with any questions they have about the region or offer quick response to any issues or emergencies that may arise during their vacation getaway.

Despite this, travelers should not rely on local authorities only in the event of a crime or emergency issue. That’s why it is recommended that spring holiday travelers also purchase a travel insurance policy.

The travel insurance policy can stand in to replace items that are stolen during the trip or even provide medical care in the event of an incident.

It can provide tourists with an extra level of safety, security, and peace of mind, as well as the opportunity to have fun this spring on vacation in Los Cabos.
