Los Cabos may seem like a place for adults to vacation due to its history as a party destination, but the region is actually quite kid-friendly as well.

Swimming With Dolphins 

Swimming with dolphins is one of the most popular wildlife encounters in Los Cabos, and there are dolphin swim centers in both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.   

Tours are offered by Cabo Adventures, which will allow you a 40-minute swim with dolphins at one of the two dolphinariums.   

The cost of the dolphin swim adventure runs around $179 for adults and about $94 for children.

Horseback Riding 

Los Cabos offers a unique and diverse landscape for horseback riding, and there are numerous tours available.   

It’s an activity that is safe for all ages and you’ll have your choice of two very different experiences, including horseback riding on the beach or riding through the desert.   

Prices vary for this popular activity but typically range between about $50 and $100 for a two-hour or more tour.

Snorkeling 

Snorkeling is arguably the most popular activity in Los Cabos, and there is plenty to see in the calmer waters of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.   

The Sea of Cortez has even been called “The World’s Aquarium “ by famous oceanographer Jacque Cousteau.   

Popular snorkeling spots include Lover’s Beach, Pelican Rock, Cabo Pulmo, Chileno Beach, Santa Maria Bay, and Hilton Cove.   

The best time to snorkel is between the months of April and October, and prices vary depending on the type of tour you get.

Swimming With Whale Sharks 

Whale sharks are known as gentle giants that tourists are able to get up close to during swimming experiences.   

These massive fish, which are technically sharks, can grow up to 40 feet in length, and they are known to hang around the coast in Los Cabos from about October through April.   

Tours to swim with whale sharks can be found for as low as $100, and it is sure to be an experience that you and your family won’t forget.

Camel Ride 

Just like horseback riding, camel riding can be enjoyed on both the beach and in the desert.   

These tours, which are typically between two and four hours, are offered by a number of different tour operators and sometimes include things like a tequila tasting or lunch.   

Tours for this family-friendly activity start as low as $79 and go up from there, depending on what’s included.   

The best time to experience camel riding is when the weather is milder.

Whale Watching 

Whale watching is a much-loved activity in various oceans around the world, and from December to April, it is extremely popular in Los Cabos.   

It is during this time that whales are in the area to mate and give birth after migrating from colder climates.   

Whale-watching tours are available during these months, and a basic tour starts at about $60 and can go as high as a couple of hundred dollars for more exclusive experiences.

San Jose Estuary 

In San Jose del Cabo, the whole family can explore the 125-acre San Jose Estuary, which is only steps away from the historic downtown area.   

You’ll be surprised to find over 100 different species of marine animals, turtles, and birds, as well as exotic plants and other animals.
