Los Cabos has been growing as a nature destination over the last several years due to its diverse landscape, which is made up of desert land, mountains, and two important bodies of water.
Going just outside of Los Cabos will afford you even more opportunities to explore nature, and one of the amazing spots you’ll find, immersed within the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, is Playa Agua Caliente.
Here’s why this untouched natural paradise near Los Cabos should be on your next vacation’s must-do list.
The Hot Springs
The Agua Caliente hot springs are just a short 10-minute drive from the small fishing village of La Ventana, which is just over 2 hours from Cabo San Lucas.
The springs, which can be seen in different areas along Agua Caliente Beach, are said to be warmed by a volcano below the surface.
The waters in the hot springs maintain their hot temperatures throughout the year.

A Beautiful Beach
Not only are there hot springs in this little-known region near Los Cabos, but an amazing beach as well.
Secluded compared to many other beaches in the region, it’s the perfect escape from the usual hustle and bustle.
Not only is the water amazing, but you can dig into the sand to expose warm water underneath, giving you the opportunity to create your own personal hot spring.

The Sierra De La Laguna Mountains
The backdrop of this amazing beach and the warm hot springs is the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains.
A hike among these impressive mountains is a great way to get out and explore the nature in the region.
Hiking high above the sea, you’ll also find breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

The Nearby Town Of La Ventana
La Ventana may be a tiny little town you’ve never heard of, but it is popular among at least one group of travelers.
The destination is known for its breezy days during the winter months, and it’s the winds that draw a crowd, a kitesurfing crowd.
If kitesurfing isn’t your thing, there is still plenty of nature to be explored in and around the tiny town too.

How To Get There
To get to this secluded paradise, and enjoy it in seclusion, you’re going to need to rent a car.
It may seem like a daunting idea, but driving in Baja California Sur isn’t much different than driving anywhere else.
Signs are pretty self-explanatory even when not in English, and you can always stop for directions from a friendly local along the way if necessary.
Car rentals start at around $30 a day, but you may want to get the added insurance as well, just in case.

Tips For Visiting
The seclusion of the Agua Caliente hot springs means that there are no service amenities in the area.
You won’t find vendors or stores, so you’ll have to gather some supplies to bring, like water and food if you’ll be spending the day enjoying the springs.
Sunscreen is important too because the desert sun can get pretty hot.

Best Time To Visit The Hot Springs
The water temperature of the Agua Caliente hot springs stays the same year-round, so from that perspective, any time is a good time to visit.
If you want to experience the springs when the outside temperature is a little cooler, the best time to visit is during the winter months, particularly in December – February when temperatures are the coolest.
During these months the average is around 80 – 81, so it’s the perfect time to enjoy this hidden gem.
