Last Updated

Los Cabos is one of the most popular destinations in Mexico. While it lags behind Cancun in terms of visitor numbers, many travelers argue that Cabo is in fact THE place to be, and that’s why it won the top spot in Conde Nast’s recent Readers’ Choice Awards.

There is a reason it’s so popular among travelers from all demographics, particularly American travelers and celebrities.

There are five things specifically that make Los Cabos not only the number one destination in Mexico but the amazing destination that it is.

Amazing Beaches

If you’ve heard of Los Cabos then you probably know that its biggest claim to fame is its amazing beaches.

There are more than 25 lining the coast of the destination, and although not all are safe for swimming, each has something to offer.

Whether it’s surfing or other water sports, calm swimmable waters, wide open space for sunbathing or leisurely walks, or the presence of exciting beach clubs – there’s always something to do on Los Cabos beaches.

Unique Sights

Los Cabos has some pretty unique sights to see as well.

One of them, Land’s End, where the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet, is the most popular sight in the destination.

The diverse landscape is also responsible for some other amazing sights, like the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, Mt. Solmar, the Cascada Sol Del Mayo waterfalls, and so much more.

Energetic Nightlife

The nightlife is one of the things that Los Cabos is known for too, as it is often considered to be a party destination.

In the downtown area, there are several bars and clubs frequented by visitors, especially during spring break.

Some of the most popular nightlife spots are El Squid Roe, Cabo Wabo Cantina, Mandala Los Cabos, and La Vaquita.

Fantastic Dining Scene

When in Mexico, you have to indulge in some authentic Mexican food, and Los Cabos has some fantastic restaurants.

This year, the destination is even set to be included in the new Michelin Guide.

Not only the stand-alone restaurants but many of the restaurants in the all-inclusive offer gourmet dining too.

Diverse Outdoor Activities

Los Cabos is becoming more and more popular among nature lovers, and there are all kinds of outdoor activities to enjoy.

The most popular water activities, like kayaking, paddleboarding, and snorkeling, are some of the biggest draws to the destination.

Hiking, horseback riding, ATVing, and camel riding are also extremely popular in Los Cabos.

Where To Stay In Los Cabos

One of the other great things about Los Cabos is that there is no shortage of amazing hotels, many of which are luxury all-inclusive resorts with awesome amenities.

There are three main areas where the hotels are concentrated: Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, and the Tourist Corridor that lies in the middle.

Cabo San Lucas is considered to be more of a party area, whereas the hotels in San Jose del Cabo and along the Tourist Corridor are known for typically being quieter and more laidback.

Best Time To Visit Los Cabos

When you should visit Los Cabos depends on the type of getaway you’re looking for.

There are a couple of different busy seasons in the destination: spring break and wintertime.

During these times you can expect there to be great weather and a lot of tourists.

The summer months are hotter but not quite as busy.

If you’re looking for a more relaxing vacation, May and the fall months are the best times to visit Los Cabos.
