For many visitors to Los Cabos, the beach is the main draw of their resort vacation getaway, with the world-famous El Medano beach being the center of attention.

Recently, merchants have recognized a decline in these visitors hitting the sun, sand and surf of El Medano. They have come to the conclusion that the center of Los Cabos needs a refresh and something new to attract visitors.

The fact is that travelers are uncovering a more authentic side of Baja California Sur, and more of them are seeking experiences that include more than just El Medano beach in Los Cabos.

Todos Santos

The nearby magical town of Todos Santos has been getting a lot of recent attention from travelers exploring day trip locations near Los Cabos.

Located just one hour away from Los Cabos, yet with an authentic feel that is much more distant, the town of Todos Santos attracts many of the sun, sand, and surf seekers from Los Cabos.

Not only are some of the best beaches in the entire region located near La Paz, but those looking for an opportunity to swim with whale sharks or explore the amazing nature sanctuary of Isla Espiritu Santo know it all comes together in La Paz.

One of the most popular destinations is Balandra Beach, located about 30 minutes from La Paz. It is regarded as one of the top beaches in Mexico, if not the entire world.

The turquoise waters enchant travelers and the opportunity to snorkel with an amazing variety of sea life is unlike anywhere else in the world. It is so popular that local officials have to limit its accessibility to preserve the natural beauty of the beach and bay.

Even the airport in La Paz could provide some competition for Los Cabos. Recently, the airport has been working with Volaris to restart nonstop international flights from the United States directly to La Paz.

No date has been set for the potential start of the first flights direct from Los Angeles International Airport.
