It’s a well-known fact that Los Cabos is one of the more expensive vacation destinations to visit in Mexico, but although many celebrities do visit Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, you don’t have to be a celebrity to enjoy an amazing Los Cabos vacation.  Winter is one of the best times to visit the area, particularly for Americans, as the winter begins to bring frigid temperatures, especially in the north.  It is also the perfect time to score a deal if you look in the right place. After some research, The Cabo Sun found four-night stays with direct flights included for less than $800 from a number of U.S. cities.

Currently, you can fly from over 20 different American cities to Los Cabos International Airport, which is located in San Jose del Cabo, about 20-30 minutes from Cabo San Lucas.  Routes tend to vary throughout the year, as some flights are added or taken away based on the season, but there are multiple direct routes offered at any given time.  Many of these direct flights only take about three hours due to the close proximity of Baja California, which is the state that Los Cabos is in, to the United States.

The Mexican state of Baja California directly connects to the American state of California.  It’s home to a number of fantastic lesser-known tourist destinations in addition to Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, namely Todos Santos, La Paz, and Loreto. Baja California Sur, and particularly Los Cabos, is one of the safest regions to vacation in Mexico.

Los Cabos, which means “The Capes,” includes  Cape Saint Luke, or Cabo San Lucas, and St. Joseph of the Cape, or San Jose del Cabo.  They are two distinctly different cities, despite their very close proximity, but they are both characterized by the cape-like geography that gives them beautiful beaches and stunning landscapes.  The Capes are surrounded by the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean, providing breathtaking water views as far as the eye can see.

While the biggest draw to Los Cabos is the beaches and the unique desert and sea scenery, many come to relax in one of the area’s luxurious all-inclusive resorts too.  There are around 100 different hotels and resorts in Los Cabos, ranging from your average chain hotel to super luxurious all-inclusive resorts, many of which can be very expensive.  However, there are some that, if booked for four nights with a roundtrip flight from a few certain cities, will cost less than $800.

You will typically find the cheapest and shortest flights from mid-western and southwestern U.S. cities for obvious reasons.  Generally, there are more weekly flights from these locations as well.  We’ll list the deals that we found for January, including the departing city and the price and names of the hotels. The prices listed below include the price of flights, as well as the hotel.
