Los Cabos has become an extremely popular vacation destination, particularly over the last few years.
Much of the popularity of Los Cabos is because of the numerous beautiful beaches in both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.
But they aren’t the only places in the region with amazing beaches.
Located less than two hours from Los Cabos, in La Paz, is another stunning beach called Balandra Beach, or Playa Balandra, that is trending with tourists right now.
La Paz – The Location Of Balandra Beach
La Paz is the capital of the state of Baja California Sur, which is also home to the popular destination of Los Cabos.
It’s located about two hours northwest of Cabo San Lucas and about 2.5 hours from San Jose del Cabo.
Balandra Beach is located about 30 minutes outside of La Paz, which is a fantastic place to spend a day when visiting Los Cabos.

The Allure Of Balandra Beach
Balandra Beach is one of the most stunning beaches in the region, characterized by crystal clear, calm, shallow turquoise waters ideal for swimming.
The surrounding sand dunes make Playa Balandra feel like it’s miles away from civilization, making it the perfect beach for a relaxing beach day too.
Many tourists visit Balandra Beach to take a break from all of the hustle and bustle on many of Los Cabos’ beaches.

What To Do When Visiting Balandra Beach
Since many of the beaches in Los Cabos and other destinations in the area are not swimmable, many visitors spend their time enjoying the calm waters of Balandra Beach.
Kayaking and paddleboarding are also popular activities, but you’ll have to rent your own to bring to the beach with you or book a tour.
Hiking to the top of what is known as the “Mushroom Rock” to get a view of the entire bay is another excellent way to enjoy this very special beach location.

What You Need To Know Before Visiting
There are a few things you need to know before visiting Balandra Beach that will make your visit more enjoyable and comfortable.
One is that there are no services available at the beach, including food and beverage vendors, so you’ll want to pack a lunch and bring water.
Shade is also pretty much non-existent, and only a few palapas are on the beach, and they get taken up quickly, so you’ll want to bring sunscreen and your own beach equipment.

Spending A Day In La Paz
If you’ll be taking a trip to Balandra Beach during your Los Cabos vacation, you might as well spend part of the day in La Paz.
It’s a charming city with an artistic community and many beautiful sites to visit.
The seaside Malecon promenade is the perfect place for a nice stroll to look at the various art installations.
And there are plenty of authentic restaurants and small cantinas nearby to grab a bite and a drink after spending the day at Balandra Beach.
