We at The Cabo Sun love a good glow-up—and one of Cabo’s most beloved beachfront stays is getting exactly that.
Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa in Cabo San Lucas has been closed for a concentrated round of upgrades and is slated to reopen in early October after wrapping a major renovation of its pools and dining spaces.

What’s new when doors open again
The refresh doubles down on exactly why travelers book this Medano Beach classic in the first place: sunshine by the pool and long, lazy meals with an Arch view.
Highlights include expanded pool zones with more jacuzzis, new lounge daybeds, and a fire-pit hangout for sunset; a rebuilt Bella California restaurant with front-row views of El Arco; the return of Carbón Grill with elevated Latin flavors; and an upgraded Taco Bar for casual days between beach sessions. Expect a more polished look overall, with artisan touches that keep the resort’s Baja personality intact.
If you’re wondering about timing, the member update lists the construction window as August 15 through October 9, 2025—which is why “this October” is when travelers can expect to stay again.

Where guests rebooked (and why you might try them too)
During the closure, guests were relocated to sister properties Villa del Arco and Villa La Valencia.
That second one is famous for its 1,148-foot lazy river—a fun alternative if your idea of vacation is a donut float and zero decisions.
Both are minutes away, so you’re still in the action come reopening week.

Medano Beach perks (and safety tips)
One big reason Villa del Palmar is perennially popular is location: it fronts El Médano, Cabo’s liveliest and most reliably swimmable stretch. Still, conditions can change with wind and swell.
Before you dive in, skim our quick explainer on the new flags at Médano and our refresher on what red flags really mean; both will help you play it safe without killing the vibe.
New to Cabo? Most beaches here aren’t swimmable due to currents and drop-offs. Médano and a few Corridor coves are the exceptions. If surf time is a must, bookmark our first-timer’s guide to swimmable vs. unswimmable beaches before you book.

Booking tips from our team
- Traveling with kids? Pencil in at least one pool day to enjoy the expanded water areas and the refreshed kids’ splash zone. Then hop a quick cab to calmer coves like Chileno or Santa María when the ocean calls.
- Food-motivated? Reserve Bella California around sunset for that new-look oceanfront dining room facing the Arch. Save Carbón Grill for a dressed-up night—early reports point to a tighter menu and curated wine list.
- Want zero surprises? If your dates are right on reopening week, confirm amenities directly with the resort; teams often fine-tune service in the first few days back online. The resort has been transparent with members about the timeline and venue availability.

Villa del Palmar is coming back this October with bigger pools, better dining, and the same prime spot on Médano Beach.
We’ll be checking out the refresh ourselves and sharing first impressions—poolside, of course.
Until then, use our beach-safety primers and traffic tips above to make your fall escape as smooth as that first margarita.
