As traveler demands for more upscale luxury in Los Cabos increase, the local resorts and hotels are working hard to update their rooms and amenities to match those visitor requests.

The latest update is a rebranding and upcoming expansion of a popular Los Cabos resort destination – the Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas, Golf & Spa.

The popular Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas, Golf & Spa located on the picturesque highway to Todos Santos, has a new name.

It will now be known as the Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes, Golf & Spa.

The resort is repositioning itself in the marketplace with a new name and mission to appeal to Los Cabos travelers.

The name better conveys to Los Cabos travelers the wellness, sustainability, and nature aspects of the resort and its unique location on the sand dunes and high waves located on the Baja California Sur peninsula.

Recently, surveys of travelers to Los Cabos have indicated that nature, sustainability, and wellness are three main features that have visitors selecting the beach resort destination over other options internationally, as well as in Mexico.

New Expansion Plans

In addition to its new name and brand identity, the Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes, Golf & Spa also announced an expansion plan that will add additional rooms and amenities to the popular beach resort destination.

As part of its short-term growth plan, the resort is expected to hit about 600 keys in the next two years.

The property, which originally opened in January 2018, currently hosts 95 suites according to the resort fact sheet. The adjoining residences add another 35 suites.

In addition to new rooms, the property will also add some feature amenities to appeal to visitor demands for gastronomic and entertainment travel.

The expansion is planned to include some unique foodie experiences to allow travelers to learn more about the unique food culture of Baja California Sur.

It also will offer a brand-new sports bar with virtual reality simulators as part of the experience.

These additions to the amenities of the Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes, Golf & Spa resort are expected to roll out to guests at the property over the next six months.

The property also named Pablo Marconi the new general manager of the property. He has more than 25 years of experience with running operations at high-end luxury resorts in four countries.

Complement Existing Amenities

The expansion plans are being designed to complement the existing popular amenities available on the resort property.

It currently includes four pools, six Jacuzzis, and a saltwater lagoon that surrounds the property.

There is also an adults-only pool at the resort along with a fun waterpark for families with children.

It also has a popular Greg Norman golf course available for local travelers who enjoy the sport of golf.

More Rooms for Visitors

The addition of new rooms to bring the total to 600 rooms provides additional vacation options for visitors to Los Cabos.

Information about the actual rooms, their design, and other details should be available as the project moves forward.

However, the addition of new rooms available to guests in Los Cabos will help during the peak seasons when resort hotel rooms have recently hit an average price of more than $500 per night.

It also will provide visitors to Los Cabos with more options for accommodations and amenities that meet the current evolution in travel demands, mainly wellness, sustainability and nature.

The challenge for this property may be its distance from Los Cabos traveler needs. For example, it is more than 50 kilometers away from the Los Cabos International Airport.

However, for those looking for a luxury getaway with a little bit of privacy and a remote feel, it might hit the right spot.
