Typically, when travel experts and tour guides review the best beaches for tourists in and near Los Cabos, their comments are focused on Balandra Beach, Chileno Beach and often El Medano Beach in the tourist zone.

However, the travel experts at Fodor’s Travel, the publisher of the popular orange colored travel guide, broke the mold and picked a Los Cabos best beach which doesn’t get much attention from the so-called travel experts.

Fodor’s Loves This Beach

If you have not guessed it yet, the best beach in Los Cabos according to Fodor’s is of course Playa del Amor, or Lover’s Beach.

A favorite for tourists that’s usually the bridesmaid and never the bride of travel experts selecting the best beaches in Los Cabos.

According to Fodor’s, visiting Lover’s Beach is a rite of passage for any tourist in Los Cabos.

The sliver of sand near Land’s End, or the Los Cabos Arch, attracts its share of visitors from around the world looking for selfies with the rock. No, not Dwayne Johnson.

With all of the tourist traffic, it’s a great place to go, and people watch different cultures from around the world and enjoy the sun, sand, and surf all at the same.

While it is only accessible by boat, Fodor’s warns travelers against swimming at Lover’s Beach.

Ignoring the rough tides may just be a one-way ticket to Widow’s Beach.

Back to the Classics

For tourists wanting to explore the classics in Los Cabos, it doesn’t get any more classic than the tried and trusted El Medano Beach in the tourist zone.

That’s why it earned the number two spot in the Fodor’s Best Beaches in Los Cabos ranking.

Soft golden brown sand and plenty of water activities for everyone make El Medano Beach a hit with nearly every tourist in Los Cabos.

Fodor’s also cites the plenty of bars and restaurants located around El Medano Beach that ensure that the Los Cabos beach vibe action extends well after dark.

The Runners Up

The final three beaches making the Best Beaches in Los Cabos for travelers include Chileno Beach, Santa Maria Bay and Palmilla.

Fodor’s cites the Blue Flag Certification of Chileno Beach and Santa Maria Bay as to why they were listed the top beaches in Los Cabos.

They also liked the limited vendor hassles at Santa Maria Bay.

Palmilla rated highly for the lack of spring-breaker ambiance and plenty of free amenities such as parking.

The Beaches to Avoid

They even included five beaches to avoid in Los Cabos including Playa del Divorcio, or Divorce Beach.

At Divorce Beach, the wave action was just too much for Fodor’s experts to get into the water.

They said it is better simply to observe the “dramatically beautiful [beach] with tumultuous waves and treacherous currents” from the sand.

The other four beaches to avoid in Los Cabos include Playa Solmar, Playa del Estero, Pedregal Beach and Playa Hotelera.

Tips For Travelers

There is truly a beach for every taste in Los Cabos. That’s what makes it such a popular beach travel destination for visitors from all over the world.

It was nice to see a different beach top the rankings at Fodor than the tried and true traditional that all tourists love for their vacation getaway.

That tiny strip of sand always gets overshadowed by the Arch, but Lover’s Beach is definitely one of the most visited beaches in the area. Just most tourists know it as the landing area to visit Land’s End, or the famous Los Cabos Arch.

Maybe now travelers will start to recognize it as one of the best beaches to visit in Los Cabos.
