Gone are the day of hostels having a bad reputation, cramped rooms, and few amenities. Nowadays, hostels generally have great dorms and even spacious private rooms, amenities such as kitchens, pools, and hangout areas. Plus they’re great for booking tours and meeting new people.

Although Los Cabos is home to a rising number of luxury hotels, hostels are available in the area and are becoming more popular due to their affordability and central locations. 

Sofia Hostel Cabo

Located right in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, Sofia Hostel is one of the most popular in the area. Previous guests have commented on how friendly the staff is, as well as the cleanliness of the rooms and the delicious breakfast.

Some of the standouts noticed by visitors are that the hostel’s owner, Joe, is super friendly and helpful, especially when organizing last-minute tours or bookings, and also that it is particularly welcoming and safe for solo female travelers. 

The hostel offers beds in either mixed or female-only 6-bed dorms for just $25, but all rooms have a terrace, plus there’s a shared dining area and garden with views of the seafront. Many people noted that the hostel has free parking, which is ideal for visitors hiring rental cars in the area.
