Los Cabos is a vacation destination that is already loved by travelers from all over the world.   

As with any place, though, improvements can always be made, and Los Cabos officials are always focused on improving the destination.   

This is why Los Cabos is launching 2 measures to improve the tourist experience and make it even more of a vacation paradise than it already is.   

Let’s take a look at what these new measures are and why they matter for tourists. 

Keeping Los Cabos Beaches Cleaner Than Ever 

One of the measures being launched in Los Cabos will help keep the destination’s amazing beaches even cleaner than ever.   

The Environmental Sanitation Trust is providing Los Cabos with additional vehicles to collect garbage from the beaches.   

New teams will be employed to use these vehicles to collect the garbage left behind by beachgoers.   

Maintaining Blue Flags Status 

At the end of last year, Los Cabos beaches were inspected for Blue Flag status.   

A total of 25 of them were given the prestigious award.   

Blue Flag beaches are beaches that meet certain standards of cleanliness, safety, and available facilities.  

The Recent Downgrade Of One Of Los Cabos’ Beach’s Blue Flag Status 

Not only can beaches gain Blue Flag status, but they lose it as well if they don’t keep up with the required standards.   

Recently Los Cabos’s popular Palmilla Beach temporarily lost that designation due to not meeting the cleanliness standard.   

The downgrading of its status was initiated by Los Cabos’s ZOFEMAT (Federal Maritime Land Zone) itself, not by the Foundation for Environmental Education, which is the organization that determines a beach’s Blue Flag status.   

This was done “so as not to fall into an administrative offense.” 

Making The Beaches Even Safer For Tourists 

Another measure being taken in Los Cabos is an effort to make beaches safer for tourists, too.   

They’ll be getting new ATVs for lifeguards to use to patrol beaches and provide better surveillance.   

With the new vehicles, they will be able to respond to emergencies quicker and more efficiently.   

The Dangers That Exist On Many Los Cabos Beaches 

While Los Cabos has several great swimmable beaches, many of the destination’s beaches are dangerous, and even the swimmable beaches can sometimes have dangerous conditions.   

Large waves, steep drop-offs, and unpredictable currents are the biggest concerns and the cause of most accidents on Los Cabos beaches.   

While officials can’t prevent these conditions from occurring, they can improve their response capabilities to accidents, and this new measure will help them do just that.   

Other Ways To Stay Safe On Los Cabos Beaches 

When you visit Los Cabos beaches, you’ll know if the water is safe for swimming by the indication of the beach warning flag when you arrive.   

You’ll see a green flag posted when a beach is swimmable and conditions are safe.   

If a red or black flag is posted, then entering the water is prohibited for your safety.   

Even if conditions are safe for swimming, it’s also a good idea to always swim where a lifeguard is present.

As mentioned earlier, Los Cabos has a lot of amazing beaches.   

Five, in particular, are favorites among tourists.
