Looking to visit Los Cabos this year? According to the travel website Hopper, now is the best time to plan and book your beach resort vacation getaway.

According to an article in Travel and Leisure Magazine, research by the travel aggregator Hopper indicates that January is the best month to book international travel.

Their report shows that airfare prices are down more than 10 percent over December’s winter holiday pricing and should remain relatively low for the next six months.

Additionally, domestic prices for connections to international travel should also remain low for the first six months of the year.

Prices will start lower than 2023 levels and then climb to destinations like Los Cabos ahead of spring break and the peak summer travel season.

For the best deal to destinations such as Los Cabos, travelers will find the cheapest flights on Wednesdays and the most expensive flights on Sundays.

They also recommend booking flights at least three or four months before a Los Cabos vacation getaway and creating flight alerts that will notify tourists when prices drop.

There are several different websites that can be used to automatically track flight prices, and travelers are urged to make sure to include Mexican airlines in their search results for the best pricing.

However, tourists are urged to remain flexible with their flight scheduling and travel dates. Travelers should also consider purchasing travel insurance to protect themselves against flight issues.

Hopper data shows that beach destinations are in high demand among travelers looking for a warm-weather vacation getaway in 2024.

“Warm weather, leisure and beach destinations are driving travel plans for 2024,” said Hayley Berg, the lead economist at Hopper, in a magazine article.

Mexico is a top destination among early vacation planners with Cancun, not Los Cabos, being the top destination in the country. Also popular is Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Paris is also a popular international travel destination this year due to the Summer Olympics coming to the city of lights.

The Good News For Travelers

The good news for travelers is Los Cabos is well covered with flights from around the United States, and the competition helps keep the airfares reasonable for travelers seeking a vacation getaway to the beach resort destination.

There are a handful of new flights coming in 2024, including a Southwest Airlines flight from St. Louis starting in March.

There have also been talks between Volaris and the La Paz International Airport to restart international nonstop flights from Los Angeles International Airport to that beach destination as well.

If that takes off, no pun intended, that could also help bring additional competition to the market and potentially help to keep airfares steady, if not lower them more.

The price shock for visitors to Los Cabos will come not from airfares but from resort and hotel room charges.

Due to the limited number of rooms, the prices should remain high and demand strong for accommodations, especially during the peak spring and winter holiday travel seasons.

Reserving your room now would be a smart move as well. The more in advance a room is booked, generally the lower the price and the better the availability for the best tourist zone resorts.

The best part about booking resort and hotel rooms in advance in Los Cabos is that they can generally be canceled, without penalty, close to the time of arrival.
