With 2022 quickly coming to a close, it’s time to start focusing on the new year, and for those planning a trip to Los Cabos, that means seeing what kind of new resorts are coming to the area.  One of those will be the new Casa Velas Resort that is set to open in Los Cabos sometime in 2023, although the official opening date has yet to be provided.  The resort will be the 7th Velas Resorts property in Mexico and the 3rd in Los Cabos.

Casa Velas will not be located too far from the other two Velas properties in Los Cabos, which include Grand Velas Los Cabos and Mar del Cabo.  Both resorts are located along the tourist corridor, officially in Cabo San Lucas, approximately five miles from each other, but the location is actually about midway between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, rather than right in Cabo San Lucas.  The exact location of the new resort has not been mentioned yet, only that it will be close to the existing two properties.

Los Cabos, also known as The Capes, is the name used to describe an area on the Baja Peninsula that is made up of two popular vacation destinations often referred to simply as Cabo.  Cabo San Lucas sits at the most southern point of the peninsula and is popular for all kinds of water activities, its beaches, and the nightlife and party scene.  San Jose del Cabo sits about 20 miles north of Cabo San Lucas and is known for its charming old town, its artistic community, and its more authentic Mexican character.

Both places have numerous luxury all-inclusive resorts already and more keep getting added in order to meet the growing demand.  The region has gained a significant amount of popularity since the pandemic when anxious travelers were able to escape to the sunny destination due to Mexico continuing to allow foreign travelers in at the time.  Now, that growth has continued, particularly over this last year, which is going to end having catered to around 7 million tourists this year at Los Cabos International Airport.

Velas Resorts began back in 1990 with the first hotel, Velas Vallarta, opening in Puerto Vallarta and offering condo-style accommodations.  The Grand Velas Los Cabos all-inclusive resort, which opened at the end of 2016, is one of the brand’s three main resorts.  Mar del Cabo, which opened at the end of 2018, is more of a boutique-style hotel, and this is what Casa Velas will be like as well.

The new Casa Velas hotel will have around 80 suites that will be anywhere from 900 sq. ft. to 1,800 sq. ft. in size, in addition to a 3,000 sq. ft. penthouse.  Every accommodation will have views of the sea from a private balcony or terrace.  The boutique-style hotel will also feature a beachfront restaurant, as well as a beachfront pool.

The luxury all-inclusive Casa Velas hotel, like Mar del Cabo, is aimed toward a high-end clientele.  The brand itself is known for offering service of the highest quality and just as high-quality gastronomy.  This resort will surely be on par with these characteristics of the growing Velas Resorts brand.

For those not wanting to wait to see when Casa Velas will open there are plenty of all-inclusive options, including the other two Velas resorts.  Staying at one of them just might give you an idea of what to expect from the newest Los Cabos Velas property that’s on its way.
