There are endless things to do in Los Cabos, from outdoor activities to cultural experiences, and it can be difficult to fit everything in during one short vacation.

There are certain attractions, though, that shouldn’t be missed, especially if it’s your first trip to Los Cabos.

So, knowing what Los Cabos’ most popular attractions are and how best to explore them will help you plan the ultimate Los Cabos vacation.

An Amazing Desert Landscape

Although it might be hard to think of Los Cabos as being a desert because it’s surrounded by water, most of the Baja Peninsula is in fact desert.

This includes Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, which are both a combination of desert, mountains, and sea.

Exploring the amazing desert landscape that lies just beyond the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez is one of the best ways to enjoy Los Cabos, especially in the fall and winter months when the temperatures are a little lower.

A National Marine Park – Cabo Pulmo

With all of the water surrounding the Baja Peninsula, it only makes sense that visitors to the region would want to explore the underwater world too.

After all, Jacque Cousteau, the famous oceanographer, did refer to the Sea of Cortez as “the world’s aquarium.”

And one of the best places to explore the sea is Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park, where you can snorkel or scuba dive, and get up close to the many species of marine life that led Cousteau to give it this moniker.

A City Full Of Authenticity – San Jose Del Cabo

Los Cabos consists of two different destinations, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

The latter of the two is where visitors go to experience the more authentic Mexican side of the Los Cabos area and where to go for a good dose of culture.

In San Jose del Cabo you’ll find a street filled with art galleries, a town center where cultural events are held, and an old town with charming bars and restaurants to visit.

Magnificent Marine Life – Whale Watching

In addition to exploring marine life in Cabo Pulmo’s amazing underwater landscape, many tourists make it a point to visit Los Cabos for another spectacular display of nature.

Although only available to see during the winter and spring months, whale watching is a hugely popular activity in Los Cabos.

From about mid-December through as late as April, you can watch the whales that arrive in Los Cabos from the shore or take a tour to see these massive creatures up close.

Unbelievable Beaches – The Sea Of Cortez

One of the things that Los Cabos is most known for, despite its mountain and desert landscapes, are the beaches, and there are a lot of them.

Many of the beaches in Los Cabos are not swimmable, but the beaches on the Sea of Cortez side are known for having calmer water more ideal for swimming.

These are the most popular beaches for tourists to visit and include the very well-known Medano Beach, as well as Chileno, Palmilla, Santa Maria, and Lover’s Beaches.

An Iconic Symbol For A Fascinating Location – The Arch

An absolute must-see when visiting Los Cabos, and perhaps the most popular attraction of all, is the Arch of Cabo San Lucas.

This massive rock formation that marks the end of the peninsula has become an iconic symbol of Los Cabos.

Visitors can view the Arch from the shore as well as a number of restaurants, or get closer to it by taking a boat tour.

Two Ways To Enjoy Los Cabos’ Most Popular Attractions

Some of these much-loved Los Cabos attractions can be accessed by car, if you will be renting one while visiting.

But the best way to see any attraction when there are so many to fit in is by booking a tour.

You can request assistance from your hotel’s concierge, as they are there specifically to help you make your Los Cabos vacation more memorable, and that’s what visiting any of these attractions will do.
