Active tourists enjoying outdoor sports competitions will have several new opportunities soon in Los Cabos.
Three high-level competitive sporting events are coming to Los Cabos in May. There is one triathlon, one half-marathon, and one open-water swimming event on the calendar for the resort destination.
San José del Cabo Sprint Triathlon 2023
Triathlon fans will want to circle May 21 on their calendar for the San José del Cabo Sprint Triathlon 2023 event, part of the Baja California Sur 2023 State Triathlon Series.
Palmilla Beach will be the starting point for the event as triathlon participants will complete the racing section of the race in the famous Los Cabos tourist zone.
Racers will be able to enjoy some of the most popular parts of Los Cabos. The running part of the San José del Cabo Sprint Triathlon 2023 will occur on San José Boulevard before wrapping up in Plaza Mijares in front of the municipal palace.
Participants are able to sign up for the San José del Cabo Sprint Triathlon 2023 event now. Hundreds of participants are expected in Los Cabos from all over Mexico and beyond for this very popular triathlon event.
MKT Sports is the planner of this important sports event in Los Cabos.
17 Tourist Race, Let’s Travel in Time
A half-marathon will be available for tourists in Los Cabos to enjoy on June 17. The road race will test even the strongest of runners in five and ten-kilometer races.
The “17 Tourist Race, Let’s Travel in Time” races will start at the Puerto Los Cabos development and complete at Wirikuta Park.
Because the race is focused on the Los Cabos tourism industry and is oriented around hotel workers and Los Cabos tourists running together, there are about 500 runners expected to participate in the event.
The half marathon race in Los Cabos will directly benefit the Association of Executives in Human Resources Administration of Los Cabos.
Los Cabos Cortés Open
Finally, an open water swimming competition will take place in Los Cabos on May 6, testing the best swimmers from all over the world.
The Los Cabos Cortés Open will also take place at the world-famous Pamilla Beach.
Swimmers can compete in a number of different open water swimming races in Los Cabos, including 1.3-, 3-, 5- and 7-kilometer competitions. Swimmers of all ages are welcome to compete.
The interest in the Los Cabos race has already attracted a number of competitive open water swimmers, not only from across Mexico but also a strong interest among international swimmers.
It is being sponsored by the Blue Lane Swimming Academy in coordination with the State Triathlon Commission.
A New Tourist Base For Los Cabos
As Los Cabos works to diversify its tourism base, the competitive sports segment is a new focus for the resort destination.
The Los Cabos Tourism Trust has already set its sights on attracting more affluent travelers with new luxury amenities such as spas, upscale dining, and even championship golf courses.
However, the organization has been actively seeking new ways to attract different travelers to the Los Cabos resort destination.
Events such as triathlons, marathons, and open water swimming competitions not only attract more destination travelers to Los Cabos to participate in the events, but they also attract a younger traveler who likes to spend money in Los Cabos instead of simply drinking and partying.
The Los Cabos Tourism Trust has decided to partner with the Sports Institute of the Municipality of Los Cabos (INDEM) to bring events and this new tourist base to the resort destination.
It’s a good match for the continued development of new tourism based for Los Cabos focused on sustainability, nature, and now even more wellness.
