Los Cabos Increases Security On Medano Beach, In Bars, And In Nightclubs As Thousands Of Tourists Arrive

Officials are gearing up for a busy spring and beyond in Los Cabos.   

One way that they are preparing is by increasing security on Medano Beach, in bars, and in nightclubs, as thousands of tourists are set to arrive in the coming weeks.   

The attention to security during the busiest times is one of the things that makes Los Cabos such a safe place to visit. 

Spring Security Operation In Los Cabos 

Ahead of the Easter holiday and the busy season, Los Cabos ramped up security and rescue operations as a way to further make visitors feel safe and secure.   

Twelve rescue posts were installed by the City Council of Los Cabos on beaches and at various locations along the Tourist Corridor, four of which were installed in San Jose del Cabo and three of which were installed in Cabo San Lucas.   

At each of the rescue posts, various personnel are present, including paramedics, firefighters, members of the Red Cross, and Civil Protection agents.

Location Of Los Cabos 

Los Cabos is located in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, on the Baja California peninsula.   

The northern part of the peninsula is connected to the U.S. state of California.   

Los Cabos, which includes Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, is located at the southern tip of the Baja peninsula.

Cabo San Lucas 

Cabo San Lucas, known for its beaches and party scene, is the more popular of the two Los Cabos destinations.   

It is located at the southernmost tip of the Baja California peninsula and is home to Land’s End and the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas.

San Jose Del Cabo 

San Jose del Cabo sits about 20 miles northeast of Cabo San Lucas and is the quieter of the two destinations, though it is still quite popular among American travelers.   

In San Jose del Cabo, there is more of an authentic Mexican vibe, with a charming old town featuring restaurants and shops.   

The city is also known for its artist community, and art galleries line the quaint streets of the village-like town.

Safety In Mexico 

A number of recent incidents in Mexico have led the U.S. State Department to issue warnings about being cautious when traveling in certain areas of the country.   

Los Cabos, though, is one of the safest Mexican vacation destinations to visit.   

Visitors should follow the usual safety tips and suggestions, like not going out at night alone and staying in the tourist areas of both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, but these tips should be followed anywhere you travel.

Los Cabos Crime 

Most of the crime that you’ll find in Los Cabos that tourists have to watch out for is petty crime like pickpocketing and other petty theft.   

The U.S. State Department only gives the region a Level 2 rating, and murders in Los Cabos are down 95 percent compared to 2018, and vehicle theft is down 74 percent.   

Furthermore, even pickpocketing is down 63 percent, and violent theft has dropped 52 percent since 2018, proving that their approach to security is working.

The popularity of Los Cabos among American travelers is evidence of how safe the destination is.
